Designed by Masahiro Sakurai - creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros. - Kid Icarus: Uprising features a vividly redesigned game world and a new look for Pit and other returning characters.
Pit is unable to fly on his own, but upon receiving the "Power of Flight" from Palutena, he can soar swiftly through the skies for about five minutes at a time. After each stage's initial air battle, Pit enters into ground-based skirmishes.
While Pit is battling in the air, the action unfolds like a dynamic guided shooter. Yet when he's facing enemies on land, it handles like a third-person shooter. Throughout the sprawling adventure, players gather numerous distinctive weapons and collect treasures.
Beyond the deep single-player adventure, Kid Icarus: Uprising also offers a thrilling and unique take on multiplayer battles. Two teams battle against each other, whittling away their point totals as each team member is defeated. When one team loses all its points, the last member defeated is revived as the powerful Angel Pit. If the other team can track him down and defeat him, they will win the match, introducing a new ebb-and-flow dynamic to multiplayer battles.
The game includes AR Card compatibility. Using the built-in 3D camera on the Nintendo 3DS system, the game recognizes countless specially designed AR Cards, with animated game characters popping up in 3D on the game screen and even battling each other when two cards face off.
The game's simple, intuitive play control has players hold the system in their left hand, while the right hand uses the stylus on the touch screen for targeting. Their left thumb on the Circle Pad controls Pit's movements, and the L Button fires ranged weapons and unleashes melee attacks. The controls are simple enough to be grasped quickly, but offer layers of depth and strategy for advanced maneuvers. A special control option for left-handed players is also being prepared.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

To start this all off, I just want to say that I am IN LOVE with the soundtrack for this game. The music is extremely well done. When I first picked up this game, I was a bit skeptical to be honest. I had heard that people do not like the controls, saying that they are too buggy. After playing it for a couple hours, I can say that I have gotten plenty used to the controls. I do agree they were a bit odd at first (touchy), but after adjusting the settings (sensitivity, stop speed, etc), I have no problem playing the game at all. The gameplay itself is awesome. I do enjoy Air battles more than Land battles, but that's just me. I really like how many different weapons there are, and that you can pick the ones that fit your playstyle. I have not played much multiplayer yet, but it looks like it will be a lot of fun, with the ability to earn weapons to take back to the solo play mode. The inclusion of some side minigames was a good idea too. I enjoy the “treasure hunt” system, giving you a sort of “achievement” and reward system. I also really like the “Fiend’s Cauldron”, allowing you to adjust the difficulty (scaling the rewards with it). Some people complain about the graphics of this game, but it doesn’t bother me. The visuals are engaging enough that I don’t realize any imperfections people like to point out. The dialog is also quite entertaining, causing me to actually laugh out loud a couple times. It seems like the game will have quite a bit of lasting appeal with the inclusion of a multiplayer mode, and with the ability to hunt down powerful weapons. If you were like me and were a bit on the fence about getting this game, don’t be. Just go out, get it, and enjoy the heck out of it!

Awesome and Unexpected

Great game and the ending was unexpected, when chapter 9 ended i was like yess its not over. Great game awesome graphics great gameplay. I found some parts funny. The boss fights were short and fun. and the weapons are awesome.

There is so much going for Kid Icarus: Uprising, it would be impossible to fully detail why any Nintendo 3DS gamer's collection is not complete without it in less than 100 words. The dialogue and voice acting, the engaging story, the huge amount of depth and unlockables, the control customization options, the strong multiplayer content, and of course, the gameplay. It's official. Pit finally returns and his newest adventure soars with flying colors.

I was very impressed with this game. The new contols are a little tricky at first but once you get used to them its a lot of fun. I've finished all the levels but I like to keep playing them to get all the unlockable and weapons. Did I mention how much fun it is to combine all the different weapons?

Its the return of Kid Icarus after 20 years of absence. In the story you play as Pit, an angel out to defeat the evil Medusa. At first the controls are hard to play but after you play it for a good hour or two the harsh controls turn in to one of the most unique and fun controls for the 3DS yet. The story is original and has a greek feel to it. The characters and the games visual are like something out of a Kingdom Hearts game and are full of color. One of the lead designers is the original designer of the Super Smash Bros series and the online has some traits of it in it. there are tons of weapons to choose from and there's about a dozen weapon categories like clubs and blades and much more. For the left handed players it is much recommended you buy the 3DS Circle Pad Pro so you can have a analog pad on the left side for easy game play. This game is truly a must have for the 3DS. I recommend this game to all age groups because the difficulty is changeable and because its a fun game for everyone.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

This game was freaking awesome! I would totally recommend it! But the thing that disappointed me was the enemies. They are fun to blast away, but they can get annoying with their attacks. Thing is, they do the same exact attack every time! And another thing that get's on my nerves are how you get from one part of an area to the next. For example, if you are equipped with a club, it takes SO long to run to one door to the next! And you always get tired! Overall, this game was wonderful, and worth the $39, but the game needed a FEW changes.

This game is perfect for: casual gamers

I remember i played the original Kid Icarus and did not like it because I was never really a big fan of the engine. When I saw this game announced and the trailer for it, I thought about getting the game. When i started hearing about the controls being terrible and etc., it made me start having second thoughts about it.

BUT, I played my friend's copy, and I was somewhat blown away by how the game looked. The game did give me a headache at first because I was not use to the fast pace of the game, but it was fun and I loved how the weapons allowed for various game play styles. So I decided to pick my own copy up. Shortly the headaches stopped.

ABOUT THE CONTROLS: This game's controls are slightly difficult to pick up in the beginning, but it is NOT as HARD as many people COMPLAIN about. It takes a little adjusting to get use to it. If you want HARD controls, play Call of Duty on the DS.

I am addicted to the game now. I finished the story line and the dialogue was AMAZING! Voice acting was great, dialogue had humor to it (Ever hear a flamboyant Alan Rickman voice? Well Hades is pretty close to it). The game was not super serious like it appears to be. They break the fourth wall and make references to other games here and there. The game also makes references to the original Kid Icarus as well. Also, the music is quite amazing.

The game play is awesome, but after awhile it seems to be a bit repetitive. That is why you start messing around with completing the grid challenges (as made famous in Kirby's Air Ride and Super Smash Bros. Brawl). There are three different grids to accomplish various challenges, leaving you with something to do for quite awhile. I am currently trying to accomplish the grid systems to unlock more weapons to fuse.

The online multiplayer is pretty solid for being on a Nintendo console. Even though it is limited to 6 players, Light vs. Dark (This game's Team Death match) is pretty awesome and brings in pretty rewarding benefits to playing. For ex., you can win more hearts (the game's currency), gain stronger weapons, and also new powers. There is no prestige or ranking system like Call of Duty (so no worrying about KD ratios), and it leaves it more to just having fun. Light vs. Dark is pretty cool with the point system. The teams have health gauges instead, and when a player gets knocked out, the higher value their weapon was, the more damage the gauges receives. The game also has a free for all, where it is all based on how many kills you get.

Overall, this game has been well worth the money I payed for. I am glad Nintendo didn't go cheap with this game like Capcom does with all of their games now (DLC for EVERYTHING). This game completely exceeded my expectations and I applaud Nintendo. If you own a 3DS, this is for sure a game to add to your collection.

Amazing graphics and cool achievement system that keeps you playing to get the rewards. each level is intricately designed and filled with dynamic dialog and gameplay. Also, no two weapons are the same so you can collect lots of the same weapon, each unique. Trading it in or selling it is a huge mistake.
