A great game that is being overlooked for not being easy to pick up and play. You need to dedicate this game time to understand it properly. Not because it's slow, but because the way it plays offers many possibilities and you have a lot to experiment with the different agents and weapons combinations you can do with each stage until you find what's better for your style. This is probably not for the Angry Birds-type of players. The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in years and the Fire Emblem characters are more than welcome for their sheer awesomeness.

Codename: STEAM plays like a more forgiving Xcom game. Characters are not permanently lost, just knocked unconscious until the next map. The only exception to this rule is the Fire Emblem amiibos, which, as is tradition in the Fire Emblem games, cannot be resurrected at a mission checkpoint. Characters have a limited movement range and firing ability based on how much "steam" they have. Just like in Xcom, there is an "overwatch" phase, which allows your characters to retaliate if they encounter an enemy moving within range, provided they have steam saved up. There is a demo currently available in the eShop and it gives you 30 uses, which should be enough to last until the game launches on March 13th.

Rated 8 out of 10 by WillTheAssassin Good but disappointing
The way the game was advertised in Nintendo Direct, it was going to be the 1st game to fully utilize the New 3DS Models. However it fails to do this in a lot of ways. It has an interesting campaign with awesome characters. The amiibo were pretty interesting additions. However the controls were a joke. The C Stick does the same thing as the A, B, X, and Y buttons. And the New 3DS 3D stability isn't as stable as advertised. All in all its a good game but if you're expecting it to utilize the new features of the New 3DS then prepare to be disappointed.

Code Name Steam is a great strategy/action game! At first I underestimated the game because I wasn't a fan of big strategy based games but when I played it for the 1st time I knew this was in my top 3 3ds games of all time. I also really like the amiibo in this game (#can't wait for robin amiibo)

Very underrated game. I tried the demo, and found it interesting. I also like the fact that you can use fire emblem amiibos in this game. This game is perfect for people who enjoy action shooter and strategic gameplay. But this game is not for everyone, try the demo first.

Code Named Steam is better for the New 3DS than the older models due to the camera. It works better cause of the C Stick which gives faster movements without having you to use the stylus.

I just don't get this pre order bonus shouldn't this have been with maybe I don't know a legend of Zelda game that has no preorder bonus. Well I can safely say that I will not be shopping at gamestop anymore.

the game may or may not be any good, but this pre-order bonus pairing makes little sense. You'd expect the Majora's Mask pin to be offered as a bonus with either the Majora's Mask 3D game or with the Majora's Mask edition of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. This game has nothing to do with Majora's Mask or even Zelda, so it make you wonder what the people who put these two together were thinking.
