No More Sleepless Nights, Thanks to the Connectivity Feature

For those of you who lie awake at night wondering how John Cena would have fared against Hulk Hogan in his prime, your sleepless nights are over.
Philosophers have long debated the question of what would happen if an unstoppable force met an immovable object. If you have a copy of WWE Legends of WrestleMania and WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2009, you may be able to discover the answer to that conundrum, or at least find out what might have happened if the flawless "The Gold Standard" Shelton Benjamin met the obviously perfect Mr. Perfect.

WWE Legends of Wrestlemania's unprecedented connectivity feature will allow you to import the superstars of WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2009, either existing or created, into WWE Legends of WrestleMania, giving you the opportunity to have them battle with or against the legends of the classic days of WrestleMania. Not only will the connectivity feature allow you to further customize the superstars, but it will also give you the power to create fantasy tag teams and legendary showdowns, settling once and for all the question of who the true kings of the ring are.

This is great news for us, which should restore some level of harmony to our E-Commerce Department. Around here, if we had a dime for every argument that broke out in the middle of a departmental meeting about whether Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka could beat Superstar Rey Mysterio, then we'd have, as Slim Pickens said in Blazing Saddles, "a [lot] of dimes." Plus, we'd all be wondering what kind of person would pay a dime to see us argue. We know many of you have lost countless hours of sleep pondering who is the most intimidating between "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson or the Boogeyman. Speaking of losing sleep, we heard that the movie Sleepless in Seattle was originally supposed to end with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan facing off in a cage match atop the Empire State Building, but after unfavorable audience screenings, the final scene was changed to show them just holding hands. We have a feeling that you won't see any hand holding when you pit Umaga against the Ugandan Giant Kamala.

If you've just received your copy of WWE Legends of WrestleMania, you should also check out our product pages for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions to see a quick video tutorial with some tips to help you get started with strikes, grapples, special moves and finishing maneuvers. If you don't have WWE Legends of WrestleMania or WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2009, we applaud you for your love of reading, but you should probably go ahead and get them. It's a lot more fun than just reading about it.

The difference between you and me? I make this look gooood.
Nobody likes to see a legend fall. We hold them up on high and watch their every move, wondering what next great feat they will accomplish. And if they should stumble, showing to the world that yes, they are indeed mortal, we root for their return to glory. Though in WWE Legends of WrestleMania we may defeat such icons in the new Legend Killer Mode we stand aside and...wait...we can topple some of the best wrestlers ever? And in doing so become the greatest Legend of all time? Your 15 minutes are up fools.

Now as any of your soon to be vanquished opponents can tell you, becoming a Legend doesn't come cheap. The hair products and spandex investment aside, Legend Killer Mode will present a constant barrage of challenges to test your fortitude. And this isn't just "one and done"; you have to beat all the Legends. What's even better, the experience you gain in Legend Killer can be invested into the attribute of your choice which you can then utilize in your Legend's online debut! Look out world, here we come!

Some of the challenges you can expect to face include:
  • New Legend - Using a created Legend, achieve 10 consecutive wins in Legend Killer Mode.
  • Legend Killer - Obtain a medal in Legend Killer Mode.
  • Real Legend Killer - Obtain all medals in Legend Killer Mode.
  • Invincible Created Legend - Play with a Created Legend and max out all the attributes.
  • Ultrafast Legend Killer - Become a Legend Killer (achieve 10 consecutive wins) within 30 minutes, using any character against any opponent team.
  • King of Kings - Get any character ranked in the Top 10 of Legend Killer Mode to unlock the Legends Ranker Team, then defeat them.
We understand there are things to take care of in preparation for becoming a Legend; getting an agent, buying a Ferrari, etc. But as WWE Legends of WrestleMania is available next Tuesday, March 24, you better reserve now to receive a GameStop exclusive code to unlock bonus costumes for The Rock, Jimmy Hart, Iron Sheik and Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake. To learn more about the new Legend Killer Mode, be sure to visit the GameStop Cinema Page.
My Memory is a Little Fuzzy

Suddenly, Bob's ringside seats didn't seem so appealing...
Kurt Vonnegut once said: "History is merely a list of surprises. It can only prepare us to be surprised again." If ever there was an event where the words 'history' and 'surprise' could be used liberally, it would be WrestleMania. I still remember sitting on my couch back in 1987 in utter shock as Hulk Hogan body slammed Andre the Giant. As the emotion welled inside me I didn't even care that I had spilled Tab all over my new parachute pants. I had witnessed history.

In WWE Legends of WrestleMania great moments like these are now more than just a memory. With the new WrestleMania Tour Mode, you will be able to Relive, Rewrite and Redefine numerous epic battles staged in, and and often-times out of, the squared-circle.

Relive - this option allows you to simulate the most memorable matches in WrestleMania history! Go back in time and play as Bret "The Hitman" Hart at WrestleMania XIII. Go to war with Stone Cold Steve Austin, wrap him up in a figure-four around the ring post, and if that's not enough, apply the sharpshooter until he passes out! View Pic.

Rewrite - What if Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake pinned the Honky Tonk Man instead of winning by disqualification at WrestleMania IV? What if Jimmy Hart wasn't there to distract Brutus? And most important of all, how gratifying would it have been to watch that haircut? What if...View Pic.

Redefine - 1985. Madison Square Garden. WrestleMania I. Let's say rather than just squaring off toe-to-toe, Big John Studd and Andre the Giant were actually involved in a Cage Match. And as wrestlers are prone to do, they climb up on top of the cage. The obvious question aside ("is that alien-grade steel supporting them?"), what if Big John tossed Andre off the top. The resulting tremor may turn New York City's landmark into the Leaning Empire State Building. View Pic.

So regardless your recollection of history, the future is drawing nigh - March 24 to be exact - and with it your chance to Relive, Rewrite and Redefine the greatest showdowns in WrestleMania lore.

And this just in...Koko B. Ware is the latest Superstar announced to join the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2009. Always adorned in colorful outfits, Koko made is WWE debut in 1986 and, with his macaw sidekick Frankie, went on to be embraced by WWE fans around the world. Congratulations Koko!

Reserve your copy of WWE Legends of WrestleMania now to receive an exclusive code to unlock bonus costumes for The Rock, Jimmy Hart, Iron Sheik and Brutus "the Barber" Beefcake. And don't forget to visit our GameStop Cinema Page for a look at more in-depth look at the new WrestleMania Tour Mode.
I'm Usually A Lover, Not A Fighter

"Don't worry Shawn, this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you...well, maybe not."
As a wee lad I remember trying out different submission holds on my younger brother. Most we thought were fun or at the very least funny to try - except for the figure four leg-lock. I don't care how flexible or young you are, that one hurts. Come to think of it, the Cobra Clutch smarted too. Hmmm, wonder if that's why we don't talk much now...

In WWE Legends of WrestleMania it's all about the fighting (and tights). A new grapple-based fighting system will have each Legend's arsenal of moves, strike attacks, reversals and taunts at their disposal throughout a variety of current and nostalgic match types. But as we all know, athletic success hinges on the "big mo", momentum. As you successfully execute moves against your opponents during the match your Chain Level increases. With each new Chain Level you achieve, you can execute more powerful grappling attacks and, after the third level of moves, the wrestler's finishing move can be performed and the strutting may commence. Be warned, continuous chains of moves are performed by pressing a button allocated by the screen before your opponent can. If they beat you to this, then the move is blocked and the chain is broken - resulting in 10 years bad luck.

"That's nice and all Mr. Guest Blogger," you say. "But I like some variety when doling out ass-whippin's. Will there be different scenarios for me to bring the pain?" Of course! Throughout the history of the WWE there have been a myriad of match settings designed to send fans into trance-like frenzies. Usually the wrestlers simply walking to the ring has the same affect but I digress. The various match types will include:

  • Steel Cage
  • Hell in a Cell
  • Royal Rumble
  • Ladder
  • Tag Team
  • Triple Threat
  • Ironman
  • Submission
  • Battle Royal
  • Singles
  • Handicap
Click here for a more in-depth description of each match.

Reserve your copy of WWE Legends of WrestleMania now to receive an exclusive code to unlock bonus costumes for The Rock, Jimmy Hart, Iron Sheik and Brutus the Barber Beefcake. And don't forget the WWE Legends of WrestleMania playable demo is now available for free download via Xbox LIVE and PlayStationNetwork.

I think I'm going to call my brother now.
