| The Waiting is the Most Barbaric Part |
| January 25, 2008 at 2:34pm |
Age of Conan ran into delays on its
way to release.
If you're a little depressed about the release date of
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
being pushed back to May 20, we feel for you.
Waiting for a game that's been delayed is kind of like waiting for
the Superbowl during the off week. The TV news is inundated with stories
about where Tom Brady ate last night, or about how Eli
Manning looks like Moose from the Archies comics. And Sunday
afternoon football is replaced with professional bowling and figure
skating not that there's anything wrong with that it's just different.
So you were looking forward to some brutal combat and pillaging this
March, but now your choices in March include caring for pet
rabbits and singing like an American Idol not that there's
anything wrong with that it's just different. Nobody's
going to come charging in on a war mammoth while you're performing
Unchained Melody.
We're sure they delay will be worth the wait, and we'll let you know if
Conan is spotted in the East Village with a supermodel. In the
meantime, you can occupy yourself by fitting your dog with custom armor
or knitting your own Hyborian Drinking Cape. |
| It's Not Just Theft; It's GRAND Theft
on April 29 |
| January 24, 2008 at 3:19pm |
Please obey all applicable traffic laws as you rush to reserve your copy of Grand Theft Auto IV.
We're not sure what the official difference
between regular theft and grand theft is, but we're pretty sure
grand theft involves wearing an ascot or a top hat.
With Rockstar Games' announcement of an April 29 in-store date for
Grand Theft
Auto IV for Xbox 360 and PS3, we'll be able to research that theory this spring. When you
pre-order your copy, you can choose between the standard Grand Theft
Auto IV or the grand Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition.
The Special Edition will ship in a customized metal
safety-deposit box containing the game itself in special packaging; a
Grand Theft Auto IV art book, featuring never-before-seen production artwork;
selected tracks by top artists from the official soundtrack; a limited-edition Rockstar Duffel bag;
and a Rockstar keychain for holding the keys to your safety-deposit
box. If the keys are shipped in the
safety-deposit box, let's hope your box arrives unlocked, or you'll
have to test some of your more dubious skills before you even start
playing Grand Theft Auto IV.
Until April 29, keep a close eye on our Grand Theft Auto IV
video trailers and screen shots to see if you can spot any formal evening wear. |

Masterpieces |

Welcome to the gallery of our contest
winners. Click the picture for a larger view.
Break out the wine and cheese, or at least the Grape
Fanta® and Cheez Its®,
and take some time to appreciate the arts. We are proud to present
the winners of our GameStop Activity Book Contest.
Our congratulations go to Grand Prize Winner Ryan B. of Eatons
Neck, NY, who personally re-defined the genre of piñata coloring.
Our compliments also go to the Runner-Up Winners Joseph E., Steven
Y. and Alyssa B. Ryan was awarded a $50 GameStop Gift Card, and the Runners Up received $25 Gift Cards.
If your submission was not selected as a winner, don't be
discouraged. We had so many great entries that it was hard to
decide, but we had to pick somebody. So keep those creative juices
flowing. Also, remember that many famous artists were not
appreciated in their own lifetimes, like Van Gogh, Rembrandt and
that guy who first painted dogs playing poker. Thank you for your
entries, and we hope to do it again soon. |
