| Welcome to GameStop BLOGMANIA XLIX |
| XVIII Januarius, MMVIII at II:XLIVpm |
Click the picture to register for a
chance to win a trip for two to Wrestlemania XXIV, plus brunch!
Everything sounds bigger and more important
when you add the word "mania" at the end and use Roman numerals. This is our 49th blog entry since we started the GameStop blog back
in October 2007. So please join us as we celebrate BLOGMANIA XLIX!
Doesn't that make it sound grandiose? We would have celebrated the 50th
blog entry, but "BLOGMANIA L" doesn't look as good. Here's another example.
Suppose you're going to your grandmother's house to eat cookies.
If somebody asks where you're going, you can tell them you're
going to COOKIEMANIA XIV at Grandmazz! They'll be so impressed
that they'll probably ask if they can go, too. You can
reply, "I don't think you can handle it."
To further our point, you should take a look at the
Wrestlemania XXIV Fan Axxess Sweepstakes. You could win a trip for two to WRESTLEMANIA XXIV!
It's much more than a wrestling match. It's WRESTLEMANIA! And it's
better than the 24th Wrestlemania. It's the XXIVth Wrestlemania! We
should probably mention that the prize includes a Sunday brunch,
because nothing goes with extreme pro wrestling like Sunday brunch,
or SUNDAY BRUNCHMANIA! You'll probably eat at around X:XXX or
XI in the morning! You need to enter by February 25, or XXV
Februarius, MMVIII. See the details here,
and see the complete rules
here. |

Until someone invents this button, our
downloads page will be the fastest way to install fun.
If you've clicked this far, we're sure you're
aware that you can visit GameStop.com or sashay into your nearest
GameStop to get the latest video games.
But suppose you don't feel like getting out
and you want to get your game right away. You want fun, and
you want it now! Then you should visit the
GameStop Download Now page.
We offer a wide variety of popular
titles for direct download to your PC, like
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare,
Sega Rally Revo,
World in Conflict and
Universe at War,
to name a few.
So we save you the trouble of having to get dressed and walk, drive
or Segway to your local GameStop. And we also save you the trouble
of crouching by your front door and peering through the mail slot as
you wait for the delivery guy to arrive. He told us that kind of
creeps him out, anyway. Visit our Download Now
page to see titles
that are only a couple of clicks away. |
| Some Ways Life Should Imitate Video
Games |
| January 15, 2008 at 5:49pm |
Feeling a bit under the weather? Just
pick up a health pack, placed randomly all over the city.
One thing we've noticed over the years is that video
games and life are different. After all, that's part of the allure of video games: they allow you to
suspend reality and be somebody or something else for a little while.
But wouldn't our lives go a little smoother if we could borrow some of
the best features of video games? Here's a short list of some things we'd
like to see in real life.
Randomly Placed Health Packs: Do you have a cold? Just walk
around until you find a health pack, and you're as good
as new. Paper cut? Health pack. Appendicitis? Health pack. Massive
head wound?
You got it.
Pause Button: Need a couple more hours of sleep? Just hit the pause button.
Life will be there waiting when you wake up. Somebody says something rude to you? Hit
the pause button until you think of a witty comeback.
Saved progress and Do-Overs:
When your girlfriend asks you, "Does this dress make me look fat?"
and you reply, "No, it's the extra 40 pounds that make you look
fat," you can just go back and keep trying until
something works, like, "Turn to the side." (Then look around
the room.) "Where'd you go?"
These are just a few ideas. E-mail us at
feedback@gamestop.com to tell
us some ways you wish life were more like video games. |
| Enter the Mii Sweepstakes to Fight the Power |
| January 14, 2008 at 3:46pm |
What would Queen Elizabeth II's Mii look like?
If you had trouble finding a Wii during the holidays, we have someone else you can blame:
the British
Monarchy. A Gamespot article tipped us off that, apparently, Queen
Elizabeth II, is now hooked on the Wii after playing a round of
bowling on a Wii that Prince William received for Christmas.
One of our sources said when the Queen was informed that many
unfortunate souls were unable to find a Wii to play, she said, "Let
them play Gamecube." Of course our source has no access to the queen
nor to anyone who knows anything about the queen. In fact, he
sometimes dresses as the queen. So, needless to say, it's not a very
reliable source. If you have a Wii, you should enter a picture of
your personalized Mii avatar in our Mii Sweepstakes. You could win a
Wii console, a 2000-point Wii Points Card and more! You don't have
to send your Mii picture to enter, but we'd sure love to see it. You must be
18-years-old or older to enter, and members of British Royalty are
ineligible. See the complete rules here. |
