| What this Game Needs is More Yoda |
| January 10, 2008 at 10:05am |
Click the photo above to see exclusive
footage of Darth Vader and Yoda in Soulcalibur IV.
You've seen them in the movies, on lunch boxes,
and even on Underoos®. Now Yoda and Darth Vader have used the
mysterious licensing powers of the Force to make an appearance in
the upcoming Soulcalibur IV game.
Why? As Yoda might say, "Do or do not. There is no why."
If you've always wondered how Darth Vader would fare against
Nightmare or if you've always wanted to play matchmaker between Yoda
and Ivy, here's your chance. You'll have to keep wondering about a
Vader vs. Yoda scenario because Darth Vader is only available on the
PS3 version
and Yoda is only available on the Xbox 360 version.
We have received exclusive footage of the two characters in action
in Soulcalibur IV. Visit our product pages here to get a look
at the video. Soulcalibur IV is set to
begin shipping June 2, which allows plenty of time for other
announcements, such as the introduction of David Hasselhoff as a new
character. We'll keep you posted if we hear anything else.

| The Real Casey Jones Wins the Real
Navy Machinima Contest |
| January 9, 2008 at 2:29pm |
Machinima Contest winner Casey Jones with GSTV hosts Chris Burnett (l) and Jennifer Sipes (r).
If you're a fan of Teenage Mutant Ninja
Turtles, you'll remember Casey Jones as the hockey-stick-wielding
vigilante sidekick to the Heroes on the Half Shell. Or if you're a fan of American
folk music of the early 1900s, (and who isn't?) you might know Casey
Jones as the courageous railroad engineer who sacrificed himself to
save his passengers. However, we caught up with the real, live Casey
Jones when he won our Machinima Contest presented by the United
States Navy.
Casey, from Chico, California, used the video capture feature from
SKATE to
highlight some of the game's realistic skating features. He entered
that video in our contest, won the grand prize, and the rest is machinimatic history. Forgoing a train trip for obvious reasons,
Casey was flown to Dallas, where he attended a taping of our popular in-store
GameStop TV show. While he was in Dallas, Casey enjoyed some
authentic Texas cuisine, which our inside sources tell us included a
side-order of "Calf Fries." He also took in a Dallas Mavericks basketball game,
and to top it off, he received a $500 gift card to GameStop. When asked what he purchased, he said, "Games of course."
We would have recommended $500 worth of DS Lite Styluses, but to each his own. You can see his winning video
here. |
| Cause of Global Warming Found: Pirates |
| January 8, 2008 at 11:52am |
Our No. 1 suspects for global warming?
Pirates.
Nobody seems able to
agree on what exactly has caused ocean temperatures to rise 0.4° F
in the last 120 years. Apparently, in the 1720's, the seas
became so warm, they actually began burning. From what we can
gather, the culprits were pirates. If you don't believe us, then check out
Pirates of
the Burning Sea for PC.
Of course, more research needs to be done to determine whether there is a
correlation between swashbuckling and global warming. But
if we were employees of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration, we'd start looking for pirates roaming around the
Arctic ice shelf.
Until this mystery is solved, we're pretty sure you can enjoy Pirates
of the Burning Sea without adversely affecting the environment,
unless you eat a lot of gassy foods while you play.
If you pre-order Pirates
of the Burning Sea before its January 21 ship date, we'll load you up with plenty of pirate booty,
like your very own in-game parrot companion, an assortment of mighty sword blades and Pre-Boarding Party
access to the game before it goes live for everyone else. We'll even throw in the original game soundtrack
with 60 minutes of pirate music because can't think of a better way
to spend an hour than listening to pirate music. It will get you in
the mood for burning up the sea. |
