Smuggler's Run: Warzones
A bit late for a review, but worth it
I originally got this game...lets see, how long ago?... a long time ago, I believe 4 or 5 years ago.Anyway, I played it. I freaking LOVED it.This is one amazing gameYou play as a newly recruited smuggler. i.e., you deliver contraband. Whether it be drugs, weapons, or plutonium, you never really know. So anyway, eventually cops get added into the mix, you can start damaging contraband, and sometimes you're fighting with rival groups for contraband. It starts out pretty easy, but gets progressively more challenging. There are 10 vehicles. You start with 1 and unlock more as you use them in story mode. Each vehicle has 2 "countermeasures". Whether it be speed boost, vertical boost (essentially a compressed air-powered jump), shield (repels cops and rival cars), bomb (like a timed/proximity mine), acid bomb (only used by the first car, the buggy), and oil slick (probably the most useless). Vehicles include: Super Buggy (the first), Du Monde (a sports car. only good on flat surfaces), Baja Truck (one of my personal faves), ATV Montser (another fave), D5 Hondo (a jeep), Sahara Special (an suv), Grenadier (a heavy duty APC or something of the like), the Kavostov Halftrack (a halftrack apc type vehicle), and the Hover Sled (like atv w/o wheels, but better. unlocked onyl with "great" (perfect) rankings on each of the 36 story mode missions)There are unlockables besides vehicles, too. There are "turf wars", which are like the rival battles from the story mode but include multiplayer. There are also checkpoint races, which are fun and also include multiplayer. Then my personal favorite: Joy Ride. In Joy Ride, you pick one of 4 (Russia, Russia Winter, Vietnam, Eastern Europe) levels, and ride around, with friends if you like, for hours doing nothing but good old fashioned off roading. And this is Rockstar games were talking about. That means MONSTROUS levels. Also, with a friend in joy ride (1 or 2 players only), you can choose to turn on police, just so you can mess with them. Its sheer fun to take the atv or something and go flying off of a hill with a speed boost and watch the cops try to catch you. or lay a bomb with the baja and look behind you to see them fly 150 ft in the air. Also, in every Joy Ride level there are 2 tokens to be found, which in turn (if you aquire all 8) will unlock the North America level, which is by far the biggest (and in the northeast corner there appears to be a natural arena to play tag with friends and such). Also, you can stall from falling from a high jump or landing hard or taking too many hits, but recovery comes quickly. ANYWAY, I strongly recommend this game to anyone that has a gamecube or Wii, because it truly was, and still is, an AMAZING GAME.
