Rave Master - Used
I'll be up front and admitting that I'm not that familiar with the show, but this game fails to illuminate much of the anime/mangas plot. The game tends to just offer brief manga graphic style cut-scenes before a fight and that is it. So, if you are unfamiliar with the narrative you'll be highly disappointed with this game.
Combat is highly repetitive with you doing fast swings with the b button, a power attack with the A button that can cause opponent's to drop their equipment, use the z button to pick up objects, and execute special attacks with the R trigger. While you can pick up various weapons and stones during combat with the z button it does little to change the nature of combat. The only real differences between the weapons are range and how quickly you can swing them which makes combat feel extremely lacking in terms of variety.
The game is rather ugly. The character models feel sloppy and the environments tend to be bland. There just isn't any eye candy here and the gamecube is capable of far better.
I didn't spend much listening to the sound track while playing the game, but of the few tracks I did listen to they felt rather generic.
I don't see much long term appeal in this game. I beat one of the five story modes and was already willing to shelve the game for all time. While there is a decent amount of content to unlock the game itself is rather dull.
Lasting Appeal: 1
This game was alright. The gameplay is very repetitive and overall is just a contest of who can button mash faster. Sure there are a bunch of different stories, but the gameplay is the same in all of them. There is a decent course variety, but they are all the same shape, just have different graphics. The graphics are pretty poor and look much like an N64 game. The sound is pretty annoying and repitive, especially the voice acting. The lasting appeal is pretty bad you get sick of it after about a half hour. I do not recomend you get this.
It's an awesomely great game.
It's a great game that you won't want to stop so get it.
