Rated 8 out of 10 by DKandDK Unique gameply with the bongos.
The bongos sometimes make the game even funner. My one problem with the bongos is that m,y arms hurt after completing a world so I cant play the game for that long. I like the idea that to unlock new worlds, you have to collect a certain amount of"beats". When you collect bannanas or kill enemies, you gain beats. The more beats you have at the end of the world, the higher the medal you get. You need a certain amount of medals to unlock certain worlds. But if you get hit by an enemy you loose beats. The graphics ate okay but they are nothing special. The sound is not very great but you cant even hear it over the sound of your bongos. This game can be a little too easy at times. Overall, I was surprised how much I liked this game and i think it is pretty good.

Rated 10 out of 10 by RayTheUlitimateGamer A truly excellent gaming experience with bongos!
YAY! BONGOS! FUN! This is one of the best Game Cube games I have ever played! Both controls work great, controller or bongos. It could have had just one improvement, multiplayer. I highly reccomend it, whether you have the bongos, or not. I played the first 15 or so hours of the game without Bongos. Of course when I eventually got the bongos it was even better. The game has epic bird fight, where you get to bash your head into a bird's egg a billion times. They have wicked fun boxing matches against other apes. About 4 of the levels are about racing, they were frustrating but fun. Then eventually there is the totally epicly epic Cactus King Battle. My favorite part of the game. I loved the whole game!

I recently borrowed this game from a friend and I love it! I've just recently beaten the apple kingdom. Kingdoms are levels once you complete 1 jungle section you've completed a world the game is long and is really recomended you purchase a bongo set for making gameplay more fun and not as difacult (playing without bongos made me feel like i was gonna break my remote cause of controls) overal excellent game and good fun!

Rated 10 out of 10 by Polarbearblue DK64 sequel, Donkey Kong Country Returns prequel
So Donkey Kong Returns came out this month, a game I was waiting on since this game. And since I pre-order the game, I thought I'd write a review for the the game that would be come next or should be played after Donkey Kong 64 (not to knock off those other games because Donkey Konga was a nice game).
The game play is great for all the folk who loved Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, 3 and are looking for a DK64 adventure. However, it's unique game play makes it enjoyable. You don't have to run through the levels as fast as you can, rather you progress by getting as many points or beats as possible by collecting bananas and avoiding getting hurt to keep them. At the end of each kingdom you battle a boss who may appear difficult but quite easy to beat once you see the pattern.
This version uses the bongo drums (ones you would have received in the Donkey Konga game bundle) as well as the GC controller. The graphic are stunning for a GC, and looks very nice. The music is also a nice throwback to the same music Dave Wise did for the Country series. Remember the water level. It's here, and the music is quite similar.
All in all this is a good buy. I have yet to play the Wii version, which I here is a good remake for the game and includes a few new features. My only disappoint is that the Wii version doesn't use bongos and after 2 maybe 3 plays on the GC version there isn't much to play for.
If you like the bongos and really wanna use then, then this is a good version to get, especially for $10. Otherwise, if you have a Wii and want a few new levels buy the Wii version. In fact, I recommend buying the Wii version overall since new levels add more game hours total. For those who waited on Donkey Kong Country Returns without playing this you missed out on a great tie over and DK64 sequel.
