Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
Great gameplay, little play time
This game had many great features to it, but also some drawbacks. The main thing that will catch your attention on this game are the graphics. Sure, it's a Gamecube game, how great could it really look. But it is more about the effects that were used versus the quality of the graphics. The water effect is a good one, along with the fact that when you strike an enemy, you have a chance of causing him to drop his shield or chopping off a limb. You can really get into the storyline of the game thanks to the great cinematics. The character customization in the beginning is quite limited, but as you advance in the game, you can choose skills, stats, and abilities that make your character unique. The one main drawback of the game is that you can beat it in a relatively short time. My friend and I bought the game, and started playing at ten o'clock in the morning and were done by eight o'clock at night. Now, that was on easy mode, and since then I have beating hard mode in fourteen hours and have yet to beat extreme mode, which is unlocked, by my self. Overall it is a fun and enjoyable game, and I would recommend it to anyone. Just don't expect to get forty hours of playing time out of it.
In the world of adventure RPG's, BG=perfect!
I bought this game for gamecube 5 years ago, and even after my gamecube broke this game still sits in my mind as one of the best, most replayable action/adventure/rpg game of its time! For when it was made the graphics are amazing! the combination of magic, archery, and swordsmanship is fantastic! If you have a gamecube or even a ps2 or xbox (the original) pick up a copy of this game! it will surprise you in so many ways!
