Rated 7 out of 10 by Poof E Hair Over the Hedge
As far as movie-to-video-game adaptations go, you could certainly do a lot worse than Over the Hedge (ET.) However, you could also certainly do better (GoldenEye.) But, if your child enjoyed the movie, then they'll enjoy the game as well. Over the Hedge is pretty non-offensive, with bright and colorful graphics, a story that's certainly less dark than the movie's, and a clean and easy-to-learn interface. However, while the game may boast some pretty original gameplay, it still lacks the cleverness that many other platformers do so well. Actually, this game really isn't a platformer, but a stealth game. Imagine if Metal Gear Solid was G-rated, and you'd have Over the Hedge. The game isn't necessarily challenging or long, but fun can still be had if you enjoyed the original property. The controls of the game work mostly well, and the music isn't obnoxious, but something about this game just screams "phoned in" to me. I think that's why I can't totally recommend this to a child, because they will certainly find better games targeted directly to them.
