Utilize the easy to learn, but hard to master controls to battle it out in the single-player mode, earning point bonuses and unlocking hidden characters along the way, or enter VS Mode to take on up to three other players simultaneously. Inflict damage using each character's unique set of special moves or familiar items and power-ups, eventually winning by knocking your opponents off the screen in one of the interactive stages, each with a Nintendo theme. Need a moment to catch your breath? Polish your skills in Training Mode or destroy targets in Bonus Stages specific to each character. Are you ready to test your mettle against all comers, including the powerful Master Hand?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where it All Began. This game is where it all started for the series. The single player battles up to defeating master hand. To having friends come over and have 4 player smash battles. This game had it all. And at the time, it was a new idea to have all of our favorite Nintendo characters face off. Even years later, this game is still one that can be put in the N64 and start the fun all over again. Even though recent entries have added new modes, this game brings you back, and is still loved by all fans in the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from How friendly fueds started. I'm not going to sit here and tell you how this game is the greatest of all time because that would be a lie, but what it was to us who started with it, there was no going wrong. It was and still is a fantastic game, yes there isn't all the characters you have nowadays, but to be able to battle with characters like Link just when Ocarina of Time had come out, Pikachu when Red, Blue and Yellow had just surfaced and many more was fantastic. While a little slower paced because of what capabilities of the N64 even today most can appreciate and actually enjoy playing this game still. The controls tight, sound fantastic and the characters even. Even the level designs, which I would argue are better than some newer ones, was incredible. Although on your own it did get old after awhile it was still one of the go-to games when friends were over. Even now I'd consider this version a go-to game with friends as a throw back and "friendly" competition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The one that started it all. To this day, Super smash brothers 4 uses the same mechanics that this game did when it was released in 1999. The addicting gameplay caused party gamers to come back for more t see if their favorite nintendo characters had been added to the roster, Nintendo granted gamer's wishes by release an installment on every home console since the N64 similar to Mario Kart and Mario Party installments, but less frequent. I was 7 when this game was released and absolutely loved it. If you haven't played the one that started it all, I highly recommend it. Sure, it's missing a lot of the mechanics and characters that make the new ones what they are, but it's a really nice experience to play the base game that they all came from and the gameplay still holds up just fine 16 years after release.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of the most impressive games ever made Rising With the Bros. This game is one of the most impressive titles ever released across any platform throughout the history of Video games. The game launched 8 weeks after I did. It was an integral part of my life for many years. The Nostalgic value of the game is captivating. Being able too look through the roster and see which character was My brothers. (Ness (And his Bat!) for Reph, Captain Falcon for Seth and Dwayne, Link for Josiah and Myself.) The unrivaled play-ability of SSB Even without the Nostalgic Value, it is still an outstanding game. It is so versatile, It could fit into any of the 4 "This game is perfect for." categories. The simple, yet immersive controls are enhanced by the ergonomically sound and imperviously mapped N64 Controller. So easy a toddler could play it (Believe me..from experience.) Hey Nintendo! Take a note (Not part of the review, More of a rant) Prelude too an Idea I have a theory, that if Nintendo were to make a first party, Portable N64, rather than mud-trekking with the Wii-U, They would sell very well. (I guarantee they would sell of 5 Million units.) Slap a modest price on the launch titles. $49.99, Add internet, Built-in Wi-fi and Multiplier capabilities. Mii's, Perhaps add trophies support. Roll out some bundles here, some limited editions their. I'm practically frothing at the mouth already. Part 1:Functions of the Nintendo 64 Lite I am code naming this project Nintendo 64 Lite (A case can be made for 64-U as well) Anyways, for N64L, I would like too see Mufti-player functions, I've seen it happen.(Granted on the internet.) And I believe with the right work ethic, Nintendo could have 16 player matches of golden eye happening from living rooms, cars and offices all around the world! I'm not asking for a Remastered version of these games. Thishttp://www.instructables.com/id/Portable-Nintendo-64/ Is all I'm asking for. Standard hand held equipment like a Headphone jack required.) The design looks just like the Wii-U's, which too me is a good thing. The Wiii-U is a modestly sexy Console. I would only make these modifications:(Picture 2) *Adding a right analog stick. (Similar to the Gamecube’s C stick) *Moving the Start Button To the left side, by the D-pad. *Adding A second Z (Perhaps W..I don't know. It just needs another bumper.) (Not pictured) *Adding the Power button to the front, bottom part of the console. *A guide button (Probably at the back of the console.) To switch between your game and the Home menu. It could also Utilize the same features as the U, EG. Connecting to the big screen. And even set up as a standing console. This would mean New controllers released as well. The Standard console should include *The Game console W/ *16MB of Internal memory *Nintendo 64 Lite:Charger Part 2:Gaming on The N64L I would Love too see fan favorites *Super Smash Bros. (Of course) *Golden Eye *Super Mario 64 *Mario Kart 64 and a liberal quantity of tiles like Perfect dark and other games. In addition to that, I also have a vision of third party titles being made for the console. I can see Max Payne, being converted to an N64L Title. Id also like too see a Dragon ball game an an Assassin's creed game. GTA III Anyone? It would be nice to see the minds of today creating games with the technology of last-last-last x5-year. However, Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros. And Golden eye would be good starting points. Not too mention that it would be backwards compatible with OG 64 titles. Part 3:Closing a dream Below are some photos I did for this. *Phew. Now back to reviewing. The Final Verdict I do feel the price is a bit steep. (As are almost all Nintendo games. Eg. Pikmin 1,2&3 Super Mario 64,Sunshine and Galaxy 1&2 The list goes on. But that is a rant for another day.) A mile higher than Mario Kart 64 and A cut above Gloden Eye (2 more Nostalgic filled, 4 player fun fests) Super Smash Bros. Takes the crown as My favorite Nintendo 64 Game of all time. However even with the superb game play and Nostalgic value I cannot justify a perfect score. Their for I rate this Game, this masterpiece a 92 out of 100. Gameplay:96 of 100 Sound:87 Graphics:91 Lasting Appeal: 96 of 100 Total: 92.5
