by RayTheUlitimateGamer I might be buying this here now...
Originally I was gonna buy this on 3DS. But not anymore. I mean, for me I would most naturally if their all the same price buy it on Wii for motion sensing, or on PS3 or Xbox360 for graphics. But this time I was going to buy it on 3DS. It was $10 cheaper. But then they delayed it's release and raised the price. Because of that I might just buy it on PC for the $10 off. The problem is the fact that have of the PC games I buy don't work on my computer. PLEASE LOWER THE PRICE!!! No one wants to pay $70 for a 3DS game!

I was shocked to see this... This shames for first 4 or 5 spyro games. Would've been much better off releasing an anniversary edition of the orignal Spyro the Dragon from the original Playstation. Or a combo pack of Spyro, Ripto's Rage, and Year of the Dragon with revamped graphics.

When I first heard about this game, I was only mildly interested in it. However, anything with collectibles intrigues me; so I picked it. Skylanders is actually a really awesome game for a lot of reasons.
First off, the game is beautiful. The graphics are exactly what you'd expect from a next gen console. Gameplay is good as well, my only quark is that the game attempts to guide the player a little too much through its gameplay rather than allowing the player to think on their own.
Besides that, the rest of the gameplay is pretty standard.
Seond, the collectible figures are great. As you see on the box, there are 32 character for you to collect, 4 for each of the 8 elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Life, Undead, Magic, and Tech. Gameplay for each character is unique. Even for characters of the same element. Its a lot of fun to experiment with each characters strengths and weaknesses. I also like the in-game upgrade system. Each character not only levels up their stats, but you can also use in-game gold to pay for ability upgrades. After enough upgrades, you also get to decide on one of two upgrade paths, further developing your figure into a custom character.
That brings me to my third like about the game, customization. Even though everyone who buys the starter pack gets the same three characters: Spyro, Gill Grunt, and Trigger Happy, because of the numerous possibilities in customizations, one version of the same character can be entirely different from the other. Also, because of the figures ability to store the in-game information within itself, even if another person use my figure, it retains my stats, including whom its owner is. This allows you to take your figures over a friends or over XBOX Live, and battle together. Which, by the way, is another great feature of the game.
Overall, an excellent game and an excellent concept. Also, one last thing. Even though you can beat the game with the starter pack figures, I HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU BUY MORE FIGURES, SPECIFICALLY ONE FIGURE FROM EACH ELEMENT!! It makes the game way more fun.
