Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adventure lovers rejoice! Adventure games have been notorious for a combination of storytelling and puzzles, and Dreamfall the Longest journey holds that true and does it well........... untill it decides to add some boring combat and bad sneaking abilities. The game plays through a set of 3 playable characters Zoe Castillo, April Ryan and Kain Alvane. The game starts with a cutscene of the main protagonists, Zoe, Laying down in a bed talking to you, explaining that she is in a coma and needs to try to get the word out on this thing that happend and that it may be the most important thing ever. From there the game flashes back about 2 weeks and you kick off from there. The game shines in its mystery and in its sense of adventure, your travels throughout the differnt parts of the parallel worlds, the tech strong stark, and the magic influenced arcadia. Fans of The longest Journey, the previouse instalment will recognize this and enjoy the art of the game. There is a nice sense of puzzles in the game, they arnt impossable but some can be fraustrating because of lack of any real clue, but you shouldnt have any trouble with most of them. and character interactions are fairly simple to understand. you will be talking to one person and then you can scroll between differnt types of options. Sometimes it can be unclear about where you need to go, a map would have been a wonderful thing to add to make it simpler since its so linear its not needed but again would have been appreciated. The item inventory is ok nothing great and you will occasionally need to combine items for nothing more than a 15 secound necessity. The times that you switch over to a differnt characters is fairly fluent and easy to get into, with maybe the small exception of kian until the later parts of the game. The characters are ones you will be able to like, even some of the sub character, like wonkers, zoes robotic pet monkey, who makes me wish i had one of my own, and will make you just have little aww moments where you will soften up. To one of my later favorite sub character crow. The game has a nice sense of music in it, but sometimes can be hard to hear, so i would recomend slightly turning down the envornment sound setting, has a great soundtrack. Oh and those worried about not having played the first one, should be able to relaxe because you dont need to, to be able to understand this one, there are times where they will mention some m inor things from the first game but nothign that either isnt explained or isnt important.though i would recomend getting the first one. Now with all the good things in the game, there are minor things keeping the game from being amazing, the excuse of a combat system youll use. its not fun or intersting, it was like they were scared about making a good ADVENTURE game and decided to throw in some uneeded action scenes. the very bad sneaking in the game, which youll use some times, and those two things alone will feel like a hassel. The voice acting is ok, but the cutscense are noooot preaty, but are bearable. Then ending will leave you with some unanswered questions and a sense of hoping for a sequal but considering the gap between TLJ and this game probobly wont see it for some time, but im hoping for one too. as for its Mature raiting there is some violence, nothing gruessome, or frightning. there is some cursing and suggestive themes, such as names for pubs you should look for, if youd like a quick laugh. the game has a slight dark feel to it, but nothing that any parent should be hugely concernd over. Overall this is a game that any adventure lover will enjoy and should want to pick up.
