Product Details:

Only you can save the Princess! Grab your tool belt and get ready to climb and jump for your life! Mario must climb ladders and leap over tumbling Barrels to defeat Donkey Kong and save the Princess. Before Mario became super, he was a brave carpenter (or so says one early promotional flyer) instead of a plumber and had an 800-pound gorilla on his back. You can shake off that monkey all over again in the rerelease of Donkey Kong as part of the NES Classics series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Old but still sort of fun to beat As we all know, this game is old. Now, this game starts out fun, but then after a while it gets tough and then boring. And after you beat it, its just not fun to play it again. So, when you buy make sure that you'll get a lot of use out of this game. But overall the game itself was okay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Classic is back you cannot say you're a "gamer" without going through the classics, arcade style. Donkey Kong is one of the arcade classics that set the pace for today's video games. Although the graphics are not anywhere near as fantastic as they are in today's games, Donkey Kong does not fail to please. The concept is simple: save the "princess" from the mad monkey at the construction site. (What is a princess doing at a construction site?), What is a monkey doing at a construction site?) simple concept, but not a simple process; it is pretty hard to save that princess after the second level, but a heck of a lot of fun trying!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very old popular game. I was never good at the mario vs DK games like this one, but this was at great classic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Donkey Kong® Ah the classic game of Donkey Kong. That man on the front may be called Mario, but back then being the first person in gaming to jump he earned the name Jump Man. The game play does get boring maybe because I have to watch my brother the whole time on two player mode. Save the princ... wait no princess, but Paline. Well o.k. from Bows... I mean Donkey Kong. It's a classic I say you pick it up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from quite difficult but deffinitly worth it so basically you are Mario and the goal of each level is to get to the top and rescue princess toadstool and in every level DK is at the top with princess toadstool throwing barrels at you. you move around the level going up ladders and jumping over the barrels which is much easier said than done because sometimes the barrels roll down the ladders and surprise you and if you aren't a quick thinker and jump over them which is hard enough when you know it's coming, you're back at the start. You are also back at the start if you fall of a platform. sometimes you get a hammer that hits barrels above you and in front of you, while this is very useful you can still be hit from behind so you better watch your back, quite literally. as you progress through the levels, other things will start to come at you, like bouncing springs and small fire creatures. all in all it is more than what you expect from an early NES game and i would recommend it to any of you who enjoy Mario themed games.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Donkey Kong Nintendo made a great decision when the Game Boy Advance was released to re-release some of their older titles so that retro games can reach a new audience. One of said ported games was the NES classic Donkey Kong, and while the game has not held up very well, it is still a classic that every true gamer should play. What makes this game so iconic? Watch the fantastic documentary the King of Kong to find out. Everything about this game is groundbreaking, and its nice to play it with new eyes. Like many other NES games, Donkey Kong is extra hard, especially since there are no save points and you have very few lives. The game is devious at points, but its overall charm will make you want to keep playing. The game is very easy to learn, and if you play it for awhile, you will quickly become a master at it. Plus, the game is pretty long, and the sounds featured in it are absolutely CLASSIC. Unfortunately, there are some problems with this game that need to be improved should any future ports come out. Firstly, the controls do not work well on the GBA like they did on the NES. They feel stiff and can sometimes contribute to cheap deaths. Also, the graphics, when compared to other NES games like Super Mario Bros. 3, look archaic nowadays. Not a bad thing, just weird seeing something this old-looking, even for a game that originally came out in '85. Still, Donkey Kong is a great game to this day, and missing out on it would be a bad idea.
