Product Details:

Enter a dark world filled with despair and threaded by hope where your ability to creatively strategize, learn and overcome unpredictable and unique challenges determines your fate. Dark Souls will demand your absolute concentration, unflinchingly punish your mistakes, but reward your ability to learn from death. Each challenge is a mind game met with endless combinations that will test your ability to creatively strategize a way to conquer unimaginable monsters and progress deeper into this bleak and forbidding environment filled with the un-dead.

  • Extremely Deep, Dark & Difficult - Unforgiving in its punishment, yet rewarding for the determined - learn to strategize freely and conquer seemingly impossible challenges. You will organically design your own gameplay style by developing your character and continuously trying different strategies to finally achieve successful progression.
  • Fully Seamless World - Explore a completely integrated world of dark fantasy where dungeons are seamlessly intertwined, with great height.
  • Mastery Earns Progression - Contains 60 hours of gameplay, with nearly 100 uniquely despair-inducing monsters & an incredibly nuanced weaponry & magic spells system, the effectiveness of which is determined by combat situation, fighting style and character attributes. Player success depends on their eventual mastery of how and when to use the magic spells, choice of armor, the number of weapons, the types of weapons, and the moves attached to the weapons.
  • Network Play - Players may cross paths with one another, interacting with each other throughout the game even as each player plays their own game. Networked play allows users to cross paths with one another to enhance the single-player gameplay experience without destroying it.
  • Flexible Character Development & Role Play - As the player progresses, they must carefully choose which of their character's abilities to enhance as this will determine their progression style. Players can choose to play as a sword master and a wizard, for example.
  • Community - See other real players and empathize with their journey, learn from seeing how others died, find and leave messages for your fellow players; helping them or leading them into death.
  • Symbolic of Life & Hope - The Beacon Fire is an important feature of Dark Souls for many reasons. Though in gameplay it serves as a recovery and re-spawn point for players whose health gets low, it is also where players can emotionally share experiences with other players, and is the one place in the dark world where players can find a fleeting moment of warmth and calm.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Game for Bored Gamers that Want a Challenge. This game at first was brutal and I gave up for months. Then I tried again after watching other people play the game. I have finally beat it a couple of days ago. Here are my strengths and weaknesses on the game. -Strengths Variety of weapons and upgrades Great gameplay mechanics No freezing! Great and challenging bosses Great openning scene Challenging gameplay, but not overly challenging. -Weaknesses After Ornstein and Smough the game bosses go downhill, perhaps because I was level 99 by the end of the game. The final boss was very easy at level 99 with the assistance of solaire. The lack of direction in game to go to a specific area that would most likely be overlooked by most players to go back to the undead asylum. The biggest issue, enemies and booses are able to hit you through walls and pillars that are still intact. Lack of a conclusion at the end. I just lit the bonfire and caught on fire. I wanted a grand scene at the end of the same caliber as the beginning intro. But after beating this game it felt very rewarding and perhaps NG+ would improve the difficulty of the game near the end.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No thanks After trying to play it for couple hours the problem i have with it is story line sucks and then you have no idea which way to go no sense of direction i felt i was in wonderland. the graphics are dated but the game play is superior compared to other games once you beat the boss after hours of trying its rewarding. but the having bad story line and no direction felt more like i was in arena than a adventure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Punishing, but Rewarding. After playing this game, I was sure I developed a slight case of Stockholm Syndrome. My friend recommend that I play this game and we did at his house. After a taste, I got hooked on it. I still am and once I finish it i'm getting the second with its DLC. This game is just so punishing for a game. An example is the boss of the second bell, Chaos Witch Quelaag. I was stuck on this boss for several hours and never really beat her. So to stray from not doing anything, I went to other bosses such as the Stray Demon and Gaping Dragon, both which I had an easier time defeating that Quelaag. But in the end, I had to ring that second and I finally triumphed over Quelaag. After defeating her I felt a soothing relief and sank back into my chair. She was so far one of the longer bosses, aside from the two bell gargoyles. so far as of 11/12/2015 I have about 30 or so hours but I feel I have played enough of the game to give this review. And I will continue to gather even more hours. Praise the Sun!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult I have been looking for the perfect game. Every other game is too easy. Even on the hardest difficulties. Dark Souls is my favorite game that i own. If you get frustrated easily then don't buy this game. However if you want a challenging game that constantly one ups your skills and rewards you greatly, and has a great combat system. then look no further.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for everyone I completely understand why people love this game. It is incredibly satisfying to succeed where you have failed and died in the game dozens of times. That being said, it is unfair to give this game a 8+ rating when it's appeal is so limited. Games need to be more accessible to receive an above average rating. Less skilled gamers should have the option of an easier setting. I think they only reason From didn't make an easier difficulty was that they didn't know how to do it while keeping the game intense. Don't let the other reviews fool you. You are more than likely not going to like this game because it is simply too hard.
