Next best step in the series allround
in all the game play felt different from the begining instead of whisperd past it was more blunt and to the point . though i dislike the desert's. the graphics change alone made the series last as long as it did.

Can't beat it for the price.
If you're looking for a good old school turn based RPG classic, you've just found one. I played BOF 1 and 2, never got to play 3, and with the major disappointment that BOF: Dragon Quarter was, I almost lost faith in this series, but I saw it on the PSN for $6 and figured why not? Let's just say, this game has renewed my faith. The graphics are pretty decent even though it's an older game and the story is just amazing. It's a bit linear, but that's not much of a problem. Like your usual old school RPG, it's got it's random encounters which aren't too bad, minigames, and there is some, but not that much level grinding that you have to do. If you're a fan of the series or a newbie, I would definitely give this a try. And if you were wondering, you don't have to play the other games to enjoy this one.

The best PSX game, HANDS DOWN
Yes, even better than Final Fantasy VII, or VIII, or whatever. I bought the physical copy of this game a couple months prior to the DLC coming out and I suggest you do the same. First of all, the soundtrack is gorgeous. The intro alone is enough to bring chills to your spine. Now lets get into the game. The game probably has the most smooth textures I've seen on the PSX for an RPG. The characters are very interesting and since you can only use 3 at a time, you'll be wanting to switch them constantly. Switching forms is very interesting as well. The attacks are very neat to watch and very colorful. For the game being as cheap at it is, you'd be stupid to not buy it. If you do enjoy this title, don't pick up the PS2 title though. It was the worst one of the series.

2D Art, Beautiful and Fluid.
The fluid spritework on display in this game just sings. If you have a taste for older JRPGs, this is certainly one of the better choices that can be had, and paying only $6 for it is a steal. Be prepared for a somewhat janky control scheme though.
