General Information

Q. What can I expect at the expo?
A.  The GameStop expo is the place to go for all gaming enthusiasts. You can expect to see roughly 90 exhibiting companies with booths ranging from a 10 feet x 10 feet up to 90 feet x 50 feet. You’ll have the opportunity to play video games months before they’re released to the public, meet celebrities, developers and special guests and play in some fantastic tournaments.

Q. Where will the event be held?
A. At the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, NV.

Q. What time does the expo start and end?
A. Doors will open on Wednesday September, 2 at 9:30 am for VIP attendees. Doors open for general admission at 11:00 am.

Q. How many attendees are you expecting?
A. Out first expo in 2012 had about 2,500 attendees. That number doubled to 5,200 in 2014. This year we’re expecting roughly 5,000 attendees. 

Q. Is the EXPO only one day?
A. Yes.  The Expo is all day Wednesday, including tournaments and exciting panel discussions. Boom!

Q. Am I allowed to bring my own food and drink inside the EXPO?  
A. Yes, it’s Vegas! 

Q. Does the GameStop EXPO have any volunteer opportunities? Are you hiring?
A. We do not currently offer any volunteer opportunities. Our event is run internally by our corporate employees. However, if you’re interested in a career at GameStop, visit

Q. Do I have to be a Power Up Rewards Member to attend the EXPO?
A. No, the expo is open to the public and anyone may attend.  However, our Power Up Rewards Members will receive early newsletters, early announcements, etc.

Q. Can I buy games or cool stuff at the EXPO?
A. Yes! I’m glad you asked. We will have a fully functioning GameStop “Store on the Floor” where you can find cool stuff not available in stores likes lancers, CosPlay and exclusive items. They will accept your cash, cards, and GameStop gift cards.

Q. Is re-entry allowed? 
A. Yes, all day long.

Q. Will I get any free stuff at the EXPO?
A. Yes, you may just find some freebies being handed out on the expo floor.

Q. Is GameStop able to accommodate people with disabilities?
A. Yes. If you need a wheelchair or any type of assistance, e-mail prior to arriving, or ask an event team member, wearing a purple t-shirt, on-site.

Q. Will I have to wait in lines during the expo?
A. Anything this cool is worth waiting for! While you may experience a few lines, there will still be tons of things to do. You’ll be entertained while you’re playing, talking or just standing!

Ticket Information
Q.  What’s the difference between General Admission and VIP admission?
A. General Admission gives attendees a full day of access to the latest video game line-up months before their released. In some cases, you’ll even be able to play games in beta to test them as they’re being developed.

VIP admission is a general admission ticket plus you get access to the complementary lounge (breakfast and afternoon break provided), industry panels with gaming executives, priority registration into gaming tournaments, a swag bag and 1.5 exclusive EXPO hours prior to doors opening!

Q. I purchased discount vouchers with my PUR account. How do I redeem them?
A. Check out the instructions at the bottom of your receipt! Simply go to and click on register now. When you get to the second page, enter the voucher code on your receipt and that amount will be deducted from the cost of your ticket.

Q. Are little kids free?
A. Children 5 and under are free and can go anywhere with their parents!

Q. I’ve purchased a VIP ticket. Do I have to pay for VIP tickets for my kids as well?
A. If you purchased a VIP ticket, you can purchase general admission for children 17 and under. They will still be able to go in the VIP areas with you, they will just not be able to participate in the fun.

Q. If I purchase a general admission ticket, can I upgrade to VIP later?
A. Of course! As long as there are still VIP tickets available – you can upgrade. VIP tickets sell out fast, so don’t wait too long.

Q. What if I purchased a ticket but I am unable to attend?
A. Dude, that stinks. You can contact us for a refund, minus a $20 cancellation fee. Or, you can contact us to transfer your ticket to a friend.

Q. I see that you have sold out of VIP tickets. Will there be more?
A.  If there were more, we would love to sell them to you. Once tickets are gone, they are gone! There will not be any available for upgrade, or at the door.

Q. How will I get my entry ticket?
A. You will not receive anything in the mail from us. You will pick up your entry ticket at registration on the day of the event. Please print and bring your confirmation letter with you to expedite this process and make the event team happy.

Q. I have a really cool gaming blog and I’d like to attend as press. How do I obtain a press pass?
A. All press attendees must be verified and approved through the GameStop PR team. Please send an e-mail to with your information. Shout out to Kyle everybody!

Game Information

Q. What games will be available to play at the expo?
A. Check out the general information page. As vendors confirm participation and announce the titles they’ll be showing, we’ll list their names here! 

Q. My son loves Call of Duty but is just 11. Will he be able to play mature rated games at the EXPO?
A. GameStop takes the ESRB rules and ratings very seriously. Only when accompanied by an adult may a child under the age of 17 be allowed to view M rated games on the EXPO floor. However, each vendor reserves the right to restrict mature content even if a parent is present.

Q. Can I take pics/video?
A. Totally! Please take as many photos/video as you want, and socialize using #GameStopEXPO. Please respect the wishes of our vendors and do not photograph/film any actual unreleased gameplay. This is special content for our attendees only.

Attire, Bags & Security Information

Q. Am allowed to dress in costume at the event?
A. Heck yes. We love CosPlay. However No functional weapons are allowed at our events. Simulated or costume weapons are allowed as a part of your costume, subject to prior approval by security.

  Are bags/backpacks allowed?
A. Yes. However any bags/backups are subject to review by security staff before entering the expo floor.
