The story begins as Neku Sakuraba, an unsociable 15-year-old boy, unexpectedly wakes up in the Shibuya shopping district of Tokyo, Japan. This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

Don't worry, the world isn't really gonna end, or is it... Ok time for the review. The game is great, now I bet you want me to explain why it's great huh? Well the location is in Japan, you're trapped in a game, to get back into real life, you need to win it. There are 7 days of the game, but maybe there could be more ( SPOILER ) There are more than 7 days, a total of 21 maybe, who knows, well I do, but I don't want to spoil everything. The game's controls are a bit tricky to get used to, but you'll get the hang of it, no problem. A great story with epic music. Techno-ish. Overall, great story, great price, great title, a great review by Esclaveir ( just kidding ), and if you love RPG, you'll want to get this.

This game has done everything right that each RPG game in the past did wrong. The gameplay is very unique and addictive, using both the touch screen and the buttons! The story in this game is awesome. The sound is very clear and can be heard clearly, but the soundtrack is absolutely phenominal. It is the best soundtrack that the NDS......no, the world has ever seen! And you will never get bored of this. Oh, and Square Enix, please make a sequel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

I've had my Ds for years now and always found myself having to play boring turn based rpgs that just got annoying after awhile. Then i heard about this game! It's double screen combat is a challenge but makes this game so epic. I'm not using turns and tapping attack or item every flipping second, which is refreshing. It artwork is original and the sound track is awesome. Rather than making more final fantasys, Square Enix ought to make another TWEWY.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

I played this game on my DS when it first came out, and now that I'm breaking in my new 3DS I decided to pick it back up again and rediscover what made me love it the first time around. The story is bizarre, no doubt, but you get sucked in immediately by the plight of the characters. Even though Neku himself is self-absorbed and was written to be intentionally unlikeable, you just can't help but feel sympathy for him being played like a pawn. The supporting cast, villains included, all have colorful, distinct personalities, and the graphics are quite stylish -- which is a good thing, since you spend a lot of time in the same areas. The music is absolutely addictive, and I never get tired of listening to it. The characters battle with pins, which you control by interacting in various ways with the touch screen. It's a lot of fun and is easy to learn, but quite hard to master. I found myself resorting to using the same pins most of the time just because I found certain types to be a little too difficult for me to use consistently and effectively. Pin evolution is addictive in its own way, as pins evolve into new or more powerful forms in different ways -- some even evolve by NOT playing the game, which means you always have an incentive to pick the game back up again if you've stepped away from it for a few days or weeks. I never quite got the hang of controlling my partner in battle using the d-pad though -- combat is just too fast-paced for me to pay attention to both screens AND use the touchscreen AND the d-pad at the same time effectively, but luckily if you leave your partner alone the game will auto-play them for you. It's not as effective and I'm sure it hurt me during tough boss battles, but I'm just not that great of a multi-tasker. So if you love RPGs and you're looking for something truly unique, this game is definitely worth a look. I never thought a handheld-exclusive game could become one of my favorites of all time, but The World Ends With You absolutely is worth every penny you pay for it, and more.

When I first got this game I wasn’t expecting such a great game! I thought, “reviews sound good, why not try it?” And I’m glad I did. Even though I had to wait a week to get it, it was worth it! The story line was nice. I liked how you found out a little about each partner. My favorite story was Joshua. I won’t say anything to spoil the secrets. The fighting is...unique. Nothing I’ve ever played before. I liked it a lot, once I got use to it that is. The two screen fighting is fun. Where you can control your partner and yourself. The great thing is you can put your partner on Automatic. That saved me lots of times in battles. Another thing I like is the shopping. Even though you don’t get to see the items on the person it’s still pretty cool. Now the graphics. The style is absolutely amazing! At first I didn’t think I would like the dark colors feel with lots of bright colors. But I think it gives the game a street-graffiti look. I love the small cut scenes as well. And the little voice acting was good. The creators chose the perfect voices for each character. The music is amazing! I’m considering buying the soundtrack. Overall you must buy this game.
My favorite Reaper is Sho Minamimoto. And my favorite Hero is Shiki.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

This is an absolutely incredible game. If you like games that are creative, I'll be damned if you don't like this. I'll stay away from the story itself, instead I'll focus more on gameplay, graphics, etc.. The gameplay is interesting, you control two characters at once, one by using the touch screen, and the other with the D-pad (or ABXY buttons for lefties like me). It's a bit difficult to handle at first, but if you don't want to tackle it all at first, the computer will automatically take control of the second character. The graphics are 2-D, not breathtaking, but still good, I like the graphic style they use in the cutscenes, and this is a very Japanese pop-culture style game. And for the music? Once again, awesome! They use real-life type of music, with genres ranging from rock to pop, even a smidge of rap. All in all, this game is fantastic, however, there is a lot of semi-hard language, so if you are buying this for your kid and you don't want tem reading these words, this game can wait till later. But other than that, Square Enix has created a masterpiece!

At first i thought "ok this is a shallow game" as i was almost through the first week and there was hardly a story. but then man did it get in gear! the story is amazing, the battles are fun, and the music is great! what originally drew me to this game was the fact that it was from the creaters of the kingdom hearts series and square-enix. im very impressed, can't wait for Neku, Skiki, Beat, and Rhyme to make their debut cameos in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance :]

This is easily one of the best games i have ever played.The storyis one of two games that have almost made me cry at several points. Neku and his relationship with Shiki, Joshua, and (spoiler alert!) Beat is often hilarious. the story was solid through and through. The unique combat system is ingenuis. Is may take a while to get used to controlling two people on seperate screens, but once you do, you'll be powering out fusion attacks and owning noise like its nothing. the music is so good im gonna get the soundtrack, which is rare for me to do. Overall, its a solid game that is a must have for anybody who calls themself a gamer.
