The Price is Right
Here is a Winner
Go Ahead Laugh, I would never have thought to put this game on a DS, but I'll predict this game is a runaway best seller with the Casual Crowd or the Adult Age 35 and up crowd. Heck I never watched a full show of this or even twenty minutes of it on TV but I even will have to buy THIS one. It IS a great Idea for a DS game, and if it has a hotseat/Multiplayer and or DS toDS play will make this one a hit. The concept of this one for the DS is a great idea and I'm normally into Strategy/RPG type games. I just think the shows type of action is very well suited for the platform and could actually be a fun game, at least in multiplayer. I lend my DS to two ieghbor friends both over 60 years of age, they like certain games like Magnetica, Club House Games and some others, but I'll bet they'll LOVE this one!. I for one hope the producers of this game have great luck with it as I believe the idea of this game on a DS deserves real good exposure and press. I'll take one please...
Great Show....Not Great Game!
I like The Price Is Right show, so I was excited to get the game, well I played it only for an hour or so and I was VERY disappointed! The graphics SUCK! And you only get 4 characters to pick from, two women and two men, for the women, one is extremely old and the other is gross looking, the men are just ok, better than the women though. The games are harder to play because you don't have any help from the audience like the show on TV And the way the game is put together is truly pitiful! It's three strikes and your out type of setup. You start off on contestants row where if you lose you get on strike, even if you lose you still get to play one game whatever they chose then if you lose that it's another strike, then even if you lose you still get to spin the big wheel, if you lose here it's your third strike and the game is over. Now if you win on contestants row you go to one game, their choice again, if you win here you go to the big wheel, and if you win there you get to go to the showcase show down, if you win it just keeps track of how much money you win on contestants row, the games, the big wheel and the showcase show down. Overall this game is NOT worth *edit*. Save your money! It was put together w/no real thought or effort! VERY LAME!
A lot of fun
What can I say, I’m a sucker for a good game based on a game show. I can’t help it! It’s a sickness, you see. That being the case, this is still one of the better game show video games I have ever played. Sticking to the tried and true formula of what makes The Price Is Right such a great and enduring game show, don’t expect any video game enhancements or power ups here. There are no quests and the objectives are firmly based on the game show (guess the price, win some prizes, spin the wheel to try to get into the showcase showdown). Instead, enjoy finally getting to play a contestant on the show you’ve been addicted to for years. I enjoy this DS version very much, it’s a nice way to pass time while waiting in lines or taking a bus. Pick it up and enjoy!
Great potential, Lazy programming
I'm kind of torn about this one. I'm a big fan of the show and I am very familiar with all the mini-games on the show as well. I was pretty excited when I heard this game came out, but after playing it for a few hours, I come away with it with mixed feelings. First the pros - the game accurately captures the "feel" of the popular game show. The theme music, the "come on down" announce tracks, and the accurate representations of the games are all there. When you play popular mini-games like Plinko or Hole In One ... it really feels like you're playing the game show in real life. Same goes for the popular showcase showdowns and final showcase round. All in all the games are pretty accurate (though I take issue with some of the pricing of items, which seem to be from a time when inflation wasn't an issue), and they are a lot of fun to play. Now the cons. I don't know who made this game, but unless they were under some kind of intense deadline, I was somewhat disappointed by the presentation of the game in certain places. For instance, the number of customizable characters are too little. There's only four avatars - which would be ok if not for the fact if you're ALWAYS playing with the same avatars in EVERY game. So essentially every game you play it's with the same faces all the time, which gets boring. How hard is it to build a few models?? Also the load time for the game is somewhat slow at times and there is also a very annoying disclaimer each time you turn on the game that you have to sit through. Ideally there should have also been a mode where you can just pick and choose minigames to play individually, rather than sit through the tedious show format and play them based on randomly generated times. Overall it's a mixed effort. Not bad, but could have been better.
Love the show, hate the game...super boring! I traded it in first chance I got!..........................................................
