Product Details:

Phantasy Star Ø takes place on an alternate Earth 200 years after the "Great Blank," a massive war that has reduced the once-prosperous civilization to almost nothing. The sole surviving Humans have worked hard to exist peacefully and have built thriving Cities. The Humans that adventure past the outskirts of these Cities, called Hunters, explore the vast wilderness and hunt dangerous monsters to keep Cities safe. Players will take up the role of Hunters and select from three types of races and different classes, as well as gender for a total of 14 customizable character types. Each character type will play very differently and give players access to a great range of items, armor and weapons. Featuring over 350 unique weapons, gamers will venture out on "Earth", combat dangerous monsters to gain experience and meet new major characters. As players explore further, they will unravel the mystery of the "Great Blank" and discover a dangerous new force that must be stopped.

  • Homage to classic RPGs - Take back the age of the great classic RPGs where you build your perfect party from the ground up. Shrewd strategy is required to navigate tough dungeon floors with limited resources, earning experience by taking on 80 different enemies out to end you.
  • Dual dungeon modes - The traditional RPG experience is fully realized in Classic Mode, which offers a black-and-white wireframe dungeon environment reminiscent of the nostalgic PC RPGs. Switch back to Modern Mode to update to the full 3-D atmosphere of the Dark Spire.
  • A captivating story of mist and shadow - A second person narrative reaches out from the game to speak to you of codpieces and killer rabbits, enveloping the gamer in an unforgettable adventure that offers three possible endings.

Game Informer Rating:

Rated 7.0 out of 10 by Game Informer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Dark Spire a piece of forgotten history The game overall loves to set the mood with those who have played with game genres similar to the dark spire. Customization is key to traversing the tower and unlikely team combination can make the most enjoyment. You may very well find yourself playing the whole game and missing entire story arcs or interesting tidbits about the game. However the game does little or nothing to display how effective armor and weapons can be. Plus the most unforgiving aspect about this game is death. When it comes to money most treasures are hidden behind traps that can cause almost instant (if at all) death. there's little to no animation through the entire games, the developers over at Sucess made it very clear that they didn't want to alter the game so most of the story and people in the game are described through text well written and versed i might add. There is no use of the touch screen and how it depends it might be a good or bad thing but overall the controls are easy to pick up and master. Depending on how thorough you'd like to be the game can range from 15 hours to 60 hours there's no predetermined amount as a good chunk of time is spent grinding away at the monsters that inhabit the dungeon. Perhaps the most amazing piece of work in this game is the background music, its so good that initial desires to pass up the game are thwarted by the interesting and unique soundtrack that comes with it. I'm so glad that they toss the soundtrack cd with the game.
