It's classic 2D sonic, but adds a twist.
this game as a whole feels like a remake of the original sonic the hedgehog 1,2,and 3. since sonic 4 ep 1 is out now, this game is starting to become forgotten. but it's still a great game, and it also adds a unique twist unlike sonic rush. it's a great sequel to sonic rush. when starting the game, we see an opening cinamatic (yes, a fully animated cinamatic) for a handheld system like the DS that is very impressive. and then you explore a hub world and build a water bike, and control it with the touch screen. this really is amazing for a DS title. and then when you get to the first level, you start sonic rush-like gameplay(side scrolling and boosting) then you face a boss, and like the original sonic rush, all boss fights are in bad cgi graphics. if they made the opening cinamatic, the hub world, and the water jet gameplay all in perfect cgi, then why did they ruin all of the boss battles. but if you can get over that problem, then you will enjoy the game, and you will build up to 4 vehicles to get you from island to island and these vehicles are, wave cyclone (water bike), ocean tornado,(ship) aqua blast (hovercraft), and deep typhoon(submerine), all of these vehicles have a diffrent style of gameplay, and they are all perfect. you chase down a pirate named captain whisker through 7 zones, the zones are, plant kingdom, machine labrynith, coral cave, haunted ship, blizzerd peeks, sky babyloon, pirates island, and deep core (deep core zone will only be unlocked if you beat the game and collect all 7 chaos emeralds.) all of these zones are unique in their on speical ways. and this is definetly a game for sonic advance fans, sonic rush fans, or just sonic fans in general, even if you have sonic 4 ep 1 or 2, you should still give this game and sonic rush a try.

Not bad!
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about getting this game at first since it seemed to be so much different than the other games. Fortunately, I was quite impressed with the game when I got it. The graphics are nice for a DS game, as they mix up bits of 3D and 2D. As always with Sonic games, the music gets stuck in your head and has a kind of catchy beat to it. The storyline bored me a bit and there was a lot of talking, but the gameplay itself made up for that. It brought in alot of the aspects of the Sonic Advance games, with cool different levels and simple, fun controls. I didn't really enjoy the sailing bits; they at points seemed tougher than the levels themselves and simply took up a lot of time. Even then, it was nice that they hid extra levels and islands throughout the ocean. That really helped make the fun last, even after you beat the game. Along with the extras, there are also 100s of mission to beat that keep the game fun. All in all, I think this is a very fun game, although I would reccomend playing the original before. The game is fun and fast and I think it would please most Sonic fans, along with those new to the series.

I thought it was pretty good
This was the first Sonic game I played so I might not be the best game critic for this. I liked how the game has different islands to explore. Even though the game got repetitive after a while I enjoyed bashing through a bunch of obstacles.

Sonic rush is better
Sonic rush on the DS was great it was pure retro goodness and I loves it.This is game is also fun and adds so much to the formula such as thematerials,Transports, the locales and many other things. It has planty of missions and islands to discover but ultimatly it gets repetive and only takes about 6 hours to beat.I would suggest renting it.

a good follow-up to sonic rush
The story mode is fun with long cutscenes, and a new mission system that wasn't present in sonic rush. The stages are fast and smooth, but the boss battles are a bit messy. There is also a upbeat soundtrack, but not much in spoken dialouge, though. The boss battles are also a bit sloppy/rushed compared to the other elements in this game, and the boat races (vs. Johnny) are a drag(this is not a pun!). Single cartridge multiplayer & nintendo wi-fi beefs up the fun if the storyline wasn't enough fun for you. This is a good game, especially for sonic fan like me!

Not your typical Sonic
I have been a Sonic fan since I was a kid. I have to say, this game was not one of the better ones. I really did not like this game. The Characters: Of course Sonic and Tails were present, but the other characters? I found them too annoying and way to chatty for a video game. I spent more time reading then playing. The storyline: meh. The Levels: there was no challenge. They were too repetitive, especially when you had to do the boss battles multiple times. It dropped from fun to boring in about 20 minutes. The back ground music was way too loud and annoying. The Challenge: non existent. It was to the point where I could barely finish the game. If you are looking for a great game to play, this is not it. I will not likely recommend this game to anyone over the age of 7. I was incredibly disappointed and traded this game as quickly as I could.

Great Game
Don't get me wrong, i really enjoyed this game, but i beat it in 3 day, with only playing the first level the first day. This is really really, really short. the story line is good, but the characters are a bit annoying. The controls work very well, and the gameplay is great. The boss battles are short, easy, and random. You just repeat the same pattern over and over until it is dead. There is no auto save so make sure you save often. i didn't, and my game spazzed and i lost about all of my progress. There is a challenge, but nothing that can't be beaten in a couple of tries. The level designs are pretty good, but everything is just repeated over and over. The linear gameplay can be annoying, if you don't play very many 2-D games like me. I did enjoy going back to levels to beat my score, but i felt that after a few times, it got old. This is a very good game, but the length ruins what it built up. rent this if you play video games often, and only buy it if you play once or twice a week. This can be beaten in 5 or less hours. This would have been a must buy if not for the length, but it sadly is just too short to bare.

NOT AS GREAT AS SONIC RUSH BUT STILL HIGHLY ENJOYABLE
Sonic Rush Adventure is another solid Sonic game and a good (unfortunately not great) follow up to Sonic Rush. If you played the original and AWESOME Sonic Rush then you know exactly what you're getting with Sonic Rush Adventure. My only problem with SRA is just what it says in the title, the "Adventure" portion. In this game you need to travel to other islands and areas by jet ski or boats, and while there's nothing particuarly wrong with it, in my opinion, it kind of drags down on the fast and furious gameplay of the original. My other gripe would be that in order for you to get to many other areas of the world you need to collect a certain amount of materials that Tails needs to build your boats, but in order to do this you need to CONSTANTLY replay levels over and over to get the materials which sort of cheapens the longetivity of the game (not that it's short, but still). Boss battles are still very enjoyable, controls are great and spot on, and the music while not as good as Sonic Rush (sorry but its true), is good. Overall, Dimps did good with this follow up.
