Sonic returns to the Nintendo DS with all the classic 2D dual screen action of Sonic Rush, as well as a new high-seas adventure where he clashes with ruthless pirates. As Sonic, you will set off from Windmill Village to explore seven islands for action-packed adventures spread across a large map. As you venture, you will uncover valuable items and materials that will help Tails build new ships so that Sonic can track down the villainous pirates in a variety of ways. With a fleet of up to five ships, including a submarine, water bike, and hovercraft, you will use the touch screen technology in exciting new ways to control your ships as you race across the ocean gathering rings, busting tricks, and torching pirate ships in fierce ship-to-ship battles. At the end of each level, test your skills in epic 3D boss battles that span both screens, including the ultimate showdown with the evil pirate, Captain Whisker. Let the adventure begin!

  • Classic Sonic 2D Gameplay with improved action stage: Sonic returns with his signature 2D gameplay presented seamlessly across both screens on Nintendo DS. New action-packed gameplay will have gamers snowboarding down an avalanche, springboarding off giant mushrooms, and hang gliding across wide gaps.
  • A high-speed ocean adventure!: Sonic travels from island to island in search of objects and materials to build up to five different ships and battles with wicked pirates both on land and at sea throughout 14 stages.
  • Enhanced touch screen controls: Players will navigate the oceans and perform aerial tricks to avoid treacherous water mines and aim their cannons during ship-to-ship battles by using the stylus and touch screen on their DS.
  • Compete with friends via DS Download Play in two battle modes: Two players will face-off in intense dual screen races or collect the most items spread throughout the map in exciting mission battles
    1. Rated 4 out of 5 by from This got me into Sonic As I started getting into gaming again I decided to go with the best: Sonic. I had never played a Sonic game before and now I'm hooked. The gameplay is so fantastic and for a ds game the graphics are really quite good. All around this game is a great choice especially now that the price has dropped so dramatically. I got this game for free as a part of a labor day sale and I almost feel guilty about it because the game was just that great. Sonic is now a favorite of mine and will be on the lookout for more. Any age group of any skill level could enjoy this game; if you are on the fence, go for it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A nice Sonic game Let's start with the gameplay: First there is the platforming levels, then there are the ocean levels(which you play to access the platforming levels). The ocean levels are fine but with the first vehicle you get is a jet-ski which you race, get boost, shoot enemies (which are ahead),and dodge rocks and jump ramps.Which eventually becomes repetitive. But thats where the other vehicles come in; a ship which you shoot enemies beside and ahead of the ship with an assortment of weapons & a submarine which you do some gestures on the touch screen to destroy enemies. Then there is the platforming which is your typical Sonic platforming but it has some mini-games like jumping from rail to rail collecting coins and avoiding spikey-balls(that sounds weird) or jumping in a minecart making choices on which way to go(once more gettin' coins and avoiding spikey balls. The graphics are nice but I don't like the 3d looking characters with the 2d level. The sound is nice but the music has quite a bit to be desired. The lasting appeal of this game is long; winning the game, filling out the map, beating records, and playing multi-player with a friend(if you have two Nintendo DS(s?).It was a good eight hours for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Okay. I bought this game and in my opinion this is one of the greatest sonic games ever. However, there was tons of glitches and many terrible graphics. for example, the cutscenes. They had terrible graphics. In the final boss fight, it was near impossible cuz if you had a 3ds, it would freeze ALOT. I would not recommend this to a friend that had a 3ds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sonic Rush Adventure The best Sonic game on handhelds. A really great game that anyone should check out if they need a good adventure game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's classic 2D sonic, but adds a twist. this game as a whole feels like a remake of the original sonic the hedgehog 1,2,and 3. since sonic 4 ep 1 is out now, this game is starting to become forgotten. but it's still a great game, and it also adds a unique twist unlike sonic rush. it's a great sequel to sonic rush. when starting the game, we see an opening cinamatic (yes, a fully animated cinamatic) for a handheld system like the DS that is very impressive. and then you explore a hub world and build a water bike, and control it with the touch screen. this really is amazing for a DS title. and then when you get to the first level, you start sonic rush-like gameplay(side scrolling and boosting) then you face a boss, and like the original sonic rush, all boss fights are in bad cgi graphics. if they made the opening cinamatic, the hub world, and the water jet gameplay all in perfect cgi, then why did they ruin all of the boss battles. but if you can get over that problem, then you will enjoy the game, and you will build up to 4 vehicles to get you from island to island and these vehicles are, wave cyclone (water bike), ocean tornado,(ship) aqua blast (hovercraft), and deep typhoon(submerine), all of these vehicles have a diffrent style of gameplay, and they are all perfect. you chase down a pirate named captain whisker through 7 zones, the zones are, plant kingdom, machine labrynith, coral cave, haunted ship, blizzerd peeks, sky babyloon, pirates island, and deep core (deep core zone will only be unlocked if you beat the game and collect all 7 chaos emeralds.) all of these zones are unique in their on speical ways. and this is definetly a game for sonic advance fans, sonic rush fans, or just sonic fans in general, even if you have sonic 4 ep 1 or 2, you should still give this game and sonic rush a try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not bad! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about getting this game at first since it seemed to be so much different than the other games. Fortunately, I was quite impressed with the game when I got it. The graphics are nice for a DS game, as they mix up bits of 3D and 2D. As always with Sonic games, the music gets stuck in your head and has a kind of catchy beat to it. The storyline bored me a bit and there was a lot of talking, but the gameplay itself made up for that. It brought in alot of the aspects of the Sonic Advance games, with cool different levels and simple, fun controls. I didn't really enjoy the sailing bits; they at points seemed tougher than the levels themselves and simply took up a lot of time. Even then, it was nice that they hid extra levels and islands throughout the ocean. That really helped make the fun last, even after you beat the game. Along with the extras, there are also 100s of mission to beat that keep the game fun. All in all, I think this is a very fun game, although I would reccomend playing the original before. The game is fun and fast and I think it would please most Sonic fans, along with those new to the series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I thought it was pretty good This was the first Sonic game I played so I might not be the best game critic for this. I liked how the game has different islands to explore. Even though the game got repetitive after a while I enjoyed bashing through a bunch of obstacles.
