Rune Factory: Fantasy Harvest Moon
A Must Have for the Nintendo DS
The game Rune Factory is one of the best games on Nintendo Ds. I picked up a copy shortly after the release and I loved it right away. A lot of people ask what the difference between Harvest Moon and Rune Factory is? Well, basically in Rune Factory you raise monsters/beasts instead of your basic Cows and Chickens. The monsters you raise (depending on the type) can come with you inside caves where you fight other monsters. You have to clear every cave and beat the cave boss to go on with the story. And let me tell you, it is without a doubt a challenge. It took me several tries to beat one of the bosses and I wasn't that far in the game yet. Along with the new features, Rune Factory also allows you to do your classic Harvest Moon things. For example you can still get married. Your choices for girls are as the following: Bianca, Felicity, Lara, Lynette, Mei, Melody, Mist, Rosetta, Sharron, Tabatha, and Tori. You can also plant crops, fish, and mine in these games. And not to mention festivals! If you love the Harvest Moon series then pick up a copy of Rune Factory. It's a must have for the Nintendo DS.
One of my favorite games ever! :P
It's like Harvest Moon at points (but not that much) But Better. It's fun and really interesting. I couldn't put it down like I couldn't Harvest Moon! It's a great game for everyone but for the younger kids that get scared of monsters I recommend Harvest Moon (it has no monsters and not scary to really young kids if they watch)! I say one of the best D.S games I ever played! :P
A Legit Review
This Game is really good! It is fun, the characters are great, and it is new and fresh but still awesome Harvest moon. The music was really actually nice, and the graphics and characters beautiful! Its one and major down fall is it got a little boring quick. Battling the monsters and through the caves was a lot of fun, but towards the end it got a little old. The games biggest down fall is after you get married a big part of it just feels.. ok that accomplished. Also, the characters said the same thing over and over, more so then normal HM. One big thing I never really liked about some Hm's is that your one child never gets any older, i dunno its always a bit more fun when you can really interact with them I guess. Rune Factory was super fun though for awhile, and I really did enjoy it. Rune Factory 2 was a lot better and story line was amazing!
This should definitly be one of the better games of the Harvest Moon series. While some may think that this could be a rip-off of some large selling [fantasy] RPGs, there are only a few Harvest Moon games that are 'straying' off of the original path. These include Puzzle de Harvest Moon, Innocent Life 1 and 2, and Rune Factory 1 and 2. Other Harvest Moon games have pretty much stayed to the original storyline, like running a farm, getting married, participating in events, etc. I think that this will be a nice break from the same-old same-old plot, and will most likely attract a larger crowd of fans, since it covers fantasy and life-simulation. I also like the idea Marvelous came up with about using monsters as livestock or farm helpers, it shows that they actually have some great, imaginative people working for them (not that they didn't before), and it brings a whole new aspect to the Harvest Moon series. I am really looking foward to this game. :]
The start of a pretty great series
The game is pretty good, just very low quality. The gameplay graphics are awful and the game itself has some bugs. The "fighting" is kind of.....lame. It's not very fast pased, but it will keep you entertained for a long time. But the game is actually quite enjoyable, the characters are well developed and the plot is very interesting. You have a lot of options in how you what to play, from your romantic interest to how you make your money. If you like dating sim style games you will eat this game up, but there are plenty of other things to do if that's not you cup of tea. But I would recommend this game if you want to play the series, all of the games some how at least mention the previous games.
One of the ds's finest
A great installment in the harvest moon series very fun enjoyable you get to fall in love have a farm and not to mention kill random abomination's.
The New Harvest Moon
For all of the Harvest Moon fans, I highly recommend this game. Sadly, they get rid of all the farm animals, but they replace it with monsters you can befreind. I really enjoyed this game because it had a great stroyline and a lasting appeal. There is only one problem with this series, and that is which game you play first. I encourage people to try this game first to get the feel of rune factory and then try the other rune factory games. If you start out with, for example, the third rune factory, then this game would not be as fun when played. It is a great game to play on the ds that sticks to many HM traditions that can be enjoyed for a long time.
Finally a harvest moon game you can fight stuff in! I've had almost every harvest moon game that can be played on the DS and I think this one was the most fun! The only problem was the kid. When he was born I didn't even see the name (which is automatically given). It is also very true to it's name Fantasy harvest moon. You spend a lot of time casting spells and fighting demons. The end was kinda corny, but it was fun over all and there were so many little side things to do I never got bored. I was disappointed about the baby and how he doesn't age, but everything else about it was pretty cool. Also you can customize your tools but not yourself. I never got to use the wireless thing (I forgot the name for it..) with this game, but it didn't seem worth the trouble when I read about it. Any harvest moon player should get this it's different but fun!
Best Harvest Moon Yet
I absolutley loved this game. As a fan of the traditional Harvest Moon series, I was a bit skeptical at this whole "monster" aspect of the game, but I got totally into it. I couldn't put my DS down for a few months trying to beat this game. Getting used to it takes a little time. As with most HM games, it's a little hard to get on your feet with earning money at first, but once you get into the swing of everything, it's not an issue. Fighting monsters in the beginning can suck too, just because you don't have any skill (you earn more skill the more monsters you battle) and you can get attacked really easily with little to no defense. But again, once you keep doing it more and more, it gets alot easier. For reference, I gave character customization a 7 because at the beginning of the game, there's so much to explore and getting to know the new characters can be really fun. But once you start defeating caves and everything, they start saying the same thing over and over. Yes, events happen; such as whenever you beat a new cave they have a new phrase relating to the cave, but other than that minus a few side stories, they really aren't that interesting. All in all, I would definitely recommend this game to ANYONE who has had even the least bit of interest in the HM series. It's suitable for all ages and all people. I'm a girl and I loved this game. Get it, you won't regret it.
A pretty good game
as an avid Harvest Moon gamer, this game is a nice change of pace. it's the first in the "spin off" series, so of course there will be problems- mediocre graphics, bugs/glitches, lacking plot depth.the rune factory series different from the "court a spouse, have a kid" theme of harvest moon because rather than getting married right away you have to "fight the monsters, save the world" first. usually after you've gone through all the dungeons do you get to pick a girl, marry her, and make her pop out a kid. but instead of saving up money to buy farm animals you just go out into the dungeon, befriend the animal (or get hurt trying), and BAM instant farm animal. you just have to buy the space to store them first. overall, the first rune factory is good for those who like to reminisce about "the good old days" of their favorite video game series, don't like the repetition of "feed animals, harvest crops, talk to spouse, go to bed" , as well as newbies who want to play through the series in numerical order. don't get too upset if the characters or plot is too "lacking" for you, it's more of a plot than what you had with harvest moon DS.
