This should definitly be one of the better games of the Harvest Moon series. While some may think that this could be a rip-off of some large selling [fantasy] RPGs, there are only a few Harvest Moon games that are 'straying' off of the original path. These include Puzzle de Harvest Moon, Innocent Life 1 and 2, and Rune Factory 1 and 2. Other Harvest Moon games have pretty much stayed to the original storyline, like running a farm, getting married, participating in events, etc. I think that this will be a nice break from the same-old same-old plot, and will most likely attract a larger crowd of fans, since it covers fantasy and life-simulation. I also like the idea Marvelous came up with about using monsters as livestock or farm helpers, it shows that they actually have some great, imaginative people working for them (not that they didn't before), and it brings a whole new aspect to the Harvest Moon series. I am really looking foward to this game. :]

The game Rune Factory is one of the best games on Nintendo Ds. I picked up a copy shortly after the release and I loved it right away. A lot of people ask what the difference between Harvest Moon and Rune Factory is? Well, basically in Rune Factory you raise monsters/beasts instead of your basic Cows and Chickens. The monsters you raise (depending on the type) can come with you inside caves where you fight other monsters. You have to clear every cave and beat the cave boss to go on with the story. And let me tell you, it is without a doubt a challenge. It took me several tries to beat one of the bosses and I wasn't that far in the game yet. Along with the new features, Rune Factory also allows you to do your classic Harvest Moon things. For example you can still get married. Your choices for girls are as the following: Bianca, Felicity, Lara, Lynette, Mei, Melody, Mist, Rosetta, Sharron, Tabatha, and Tori. You can also plant crops, fish, and mine in these games. And not to mention festivals! If you love the Harvest Moon series then pick up a copy of Rune Factory. It's a must have for the Nintendo DS.

as an avid Harvest Moon gamer, this game is a nice change of pace. it's the first in the "spin off" series, so of course there will be problems- mediocre graphics, bugs/glitches, lacking plot depth.the rune factory series different from the "court a spouse, have a kid" theme of harvest moon because rather than getting married right away you have to "fight the monsters, save the world" first. usually after you've gone through all the dungeons do you get to pick a girl, marry her, and make her pop out a kid. but instead of saving up money to buy farm animals you just go out into the dungeon, befriend the animal (or get hurt trying), and BAM instant farm animal. you just have to buy the space to store them first. overall, the first rune factory is good for those who like to reminisce about "the good old days" of their favorite video game series, don't like the repetition of "feed animals, harvest crops, talk to spouse, go to bed" , as well as newbies who want to play through the series in numerical order. don't get too upset if the characters or plot is too "lacking" for you, it's more of a plot than what you had with harvest moon DS.

Finally a harvest moon game you can fight stuff in! I've had almost every harvest moon game that can be played on the DS and I think this one was the most fun! The only problem was the kid. When he was born I didn't even see the name (which is automatically given). It is also very true to it's name Fantasy harvest moon. You spend a lot of time casting spells and fighting demons. The end was kinda corny, but it was fun over all and there were so many little side things to do I never got bored. I was disappointed about the baby and how he doesn't age, but everything else about it was pretty cool. Also you can customize your tools but not yourself. I never got to use the wireless thing (I forgot the name for it..) with this game, but it didn't seem worth the trouble when I read about it. Any harvest moon player should get this it's different but fun!

This Game is really good! It is fun, the characters are great, and it is new and fresh but still awesome Harvest moon. The music was really actually nice, and the graphics and characters beautiful! Its one and major down fall is it got a little boring quick. Battling the monsters and through the caves was a lot of fun, but towards the end it got a little old. The games biggest down fall is after you get married a big part of it just feels.. ok that accomplished. Also, the characters said the same thing over and over, more so then normal HM. One big thing I never really liked about some Hm's is that your one child never gets any older, i dunno its always a bit more fun when you can really interact with them I guess. Rune Factory was super fun though for awhile, and I really did enjoy it. Rune Factory 2 was a lot better and story line was amazing!

It's a pretty smart idea for them to incorporate RPG elements into the Harvest Moon universe, and along with the fantasy atmosphere it should bring the game to a whole new level. Whoever said it's like Runescape is an idiot, so just ignore their comment. If you are not familiar with the Harvest Moon series they consist of keeping a farm and preparing crops for harvesting along with creating relationships with town folk and helping other people with their problems. The first Harvest Moon game was released for the Super Nintendo in 1997. If you are already familiar with the series them simply go to IGN.com and look up Rune Factory to see some screenshots and such, since EB and Gamestop don't like to keep up to date with anything, to see more about the game and the series.

This game is really fun, I like how it has like 8 dungeons instead of just 4, except the winter dungeon cause that one is kinda annoying because it has to be winter...unless you have a cheat...I've played this one and the 2nd one...this one took me longer than the 2nd one to complete but both are fun...really fun, and the 3rd one will be fun too I'm sure, and so will the first one, mom says we should stop spending our money on games but she doesn't understand the awesomeness of the game...it is very fun and recommended for anyone who has not played the 3rd one before...because the 3rd one gets allot better at everything, but I like how the 2nd one you do requests, it's easier to get the people to like you, anyways, get this game because it is fun

Maybe it was because I played the second one before I played this one but, it was just... boring. Sure, I was excited the first time I played it but, after a couple of days I became bored and gave it back to my friend. It was okay, the dungeons were fine to. The whole game just took to long to do anything. I played up to summer but, the townspeople weren't friendly towards me in the least. I didn't like the fact that it took THAT long for people to get to like you. Also I didn't like the fact that you didn't have something that let you do quests on but, you had to wait for someone, in the right conditions, to ask you. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Rune Factory and all but, the first one wasn't my favorite.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Neverender The start of a pretty great series
The game is pretty good, just very low quality. The gameplay graphics are awful and the game itself has some bugs. The "fighting" is kind of.....lame. It's not very fast pased, but it will keep you entertained for a long time. But the game is actually quite enjoyable, the characters are well developed and the plot is very interesting. You have a lot of options in how you what to play, from your romantic interest to how you make your money. If you like dating sim style games you will eat this game up, but there are plenty of other things to do if that's not you cup of tea. But I would recommend this game if you want to play the series, all of the games some how at least mention the previous games.

The game sounds really cool, don't get me wrong, but I heard rumours about it. for starters, some people wonder about how the battling monsters and farming come together, but don't worry about it. Although, I heard that most of the characters look weird on the set. Not when you're talking to someone, but when you pass by them. I've seen a video and a person looked like they walk with their hands on their head! And another kind of looked like it was puking every time it stopped walking. Ugghhh... Otherwise the game is pretty cool. Although once the game is released, take a good look at it before you buy it. Just rent it first. but don't think it's bad. It's cool.
