Rune Factory 3: Fantasy Harvest Moon
Meh, great graphics, but not enough plot
Bought this game used, the girl before me had leveled up the character Micah to level 200-something, married Sharence, and had all these ridiculous equipment/upgrade stuff, not to mention 3 kids. When i noticed this, i thought "great, this game will be entertaining. Seems like this girl had fun until she did everything there was to do in the game. i hope i find the time to do the same". I don't know how that girl did it, but dear god this game is lacking. The graphics are amazing and cute, the girls are cute, the crops and seasons are great (gotta love summer and swimsuits). BUT THE PLOT IS SO LACKING. you lose your memory and can transform in to a wooly. WHY A WOOLY?! THAT'S NOT MANLY AT ALL. There's only 4 "dungeons" (more like, seasonal terrain areas), 4 normal bosses, one mega dungeon (i only use "mega" because all 4 seasonal crops can grow there), and the "main" boss which is on the same level as the 4 previous ones. then you get married and your "waifu" starts popping out kids like she's the most fertile thing on the planet. after she had the 3 kids i was rather annoyed by their presence and voices (should've stayed single). after that, there's nothing for you to really do aside from woo all the girls (which is really simple) and max your stats (magic, physical, forging, pharmacy, etc) which is just too tedious to me. i wish i just saved the money and bought rune factory 2 instead. if it really bothered me (not playing it) i'm sure i could've found a rom online or just rented the game for a week (the plot's so short). if you're into simple plots and cute graphics, this game is for you. i prefer extensive plots (i get really into the game), however, so this game wasn't for me.
The best game I ever played

The Ultimate Farming Game
This game has been my favorite rune factory (and harvest moon) game by far. They really have improved on everything in the series with monsters, storyline, characters, and especially the main character himself. I find myself playing this game the most, especially with the challenging labyrinths (optional) that lies in one of the rooms in your home. They did a great job on the characters, making each and everyone unique and slightly odd depending on how they work or what they like. They made a variety of weapons you can choose from to battle with and also grow flowers now with your vegetables. This is a great game...but how in the world will Natsume top this one off?
Best game yet, despite graphics
No one can really expect anything for the DS to have stunning graphics, but rune factory 3 did an amazing job with story lines, music, and keeping you going and going. I cant put it down!!
Better than the rest.. but still lacks graphics
I played rune factory 2 and took it back because it was soo boring. . . thats why i hesitated on this game. but as i got into the game i found it was challenging and has an exiting story line! The characters are unique and fun to talk to.. they can also help you fight in the dungeons ! I would deff. recommend this to any fan of fantasy/ rune factory/ or harvest moon gamers. But despite the amazing monsters and exciting story line, it still, like all the rune factory/HM games for DS, lacks much visual appeal. The sound is great, and i liked the fact some of the story lines are read aloud. the music goes good with all of the settings too, but there is little visual details to make it as appealing as it could be.
It was simply slow...
This game was alright. It was slow though. I expect it to be better. Although even though I expected more this was not horrible. It wasn't my type of game :\ I don't think it's worth it.
It was okay, I suppose...
Um...I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was an awesome game, but not my cup of tea.
The game play/storyline was pretty interesting, but...not...um...how should I put this? It's too complicated. The controls that you had to use to fight monsters was not user friendly. Whenever I wanted to attack, I'd hit a control and end up being teleported back to the village. I'd put more, but I don't know what else to put...
Like, overall, it was a good game! But the beginning was too slow, and other things like that. Sorry to all those who actually like this :(
Please, don't be mad, this is just my opinion on the game.
Rune Factory 3- YES!
I played the first rune factory and loved the gameplay, but there were problems. i bought three a while back, and i am amazed at what they have done with this game. As usual, you do a large number of things; Cook, Farm, Fish, Forge, Mine, Raise Monsters, Learn magic, Fight with several diffferent types of weapons, craft items into new items, and so much more. Yes, i did say more! To be honest, i havent even beaten the game due to how much fun i'm having just goofing around. Also, with the previous games, you had to get pretty far to upgrade your home. Now this happens automatically after beating the first boss. Also, even though the whole relationship thing is kinda wierd, the bacholorettes are really diverse and interesting. I love the music, it is fantastic as well. So, buy this the second you see it, becouse ive played for more than 60 hours and am still loving it.
A great game, if not a bit short
I am a huge Harvest Moon fan. Even tho I played almost all of the Harvest Moon games, I always thought there were lacking something. Low and behold, I got Rune Factory Frontier, and I loved it! I picked this game up when I wanted my farming/slaying on the go, and I love it. The story is that you are a woolie (sheep monster) that has lost his way. You collapsed in front of this girls house where you transform into a human. After you wake up, you have to memory and stay inside this treehouse to recover. After farmnig for a bit, you get the chance to go into the first dungeon. After you beat that, you gain the ability to transform back into your woolie form and the plot is shown. For spoilers reason, I will not tell you what the plot is. The story is good. The graphics look nice for the DS, theres better looking ones on the DS (Kingdom Hearts anyone?), but its very nice and gets the job done. The music is very nice and fits the aphmosphere. Now, the gameplay. Its fun. One part of the gameplay is taking care of your ranch and plants like any harvest moon game. The second part is gonig into a dungeon and fighting monsters with a nice selection of weapons. We have: the Shortsword for all your balanced needs, the Longsword for hit and runners, the Spear for those who hate to be touched, the Axe, for even more hit and runs, the Hammer for those who like to hit and run with a stun, and the duelblades for those who like to plow threw lines of enemies of you don't mind being hurt a lot when you are hit. In order to win the game, you will NEED to marry one of the women. Luckily, there deep. I went for the quite shy girl, most like me, and when I started out, I thought she was the kind to be continualy annoyed by the world, but as I got deeper into it, she had a good heart and had a secret that was quite a suprise and made sense why she was clsoed off. The only problem with this game? The bosses. Now I was on hard the whole time, and normaly, the bosses provided a nice challenge. Exsept for the fact every boss had a BEAM! Once they hit you, if your not at full health, and even if you are sometimes, you die! Theres no way out of it! At all!. Besides that, a fantastic game! I recomend to anyone who like top down Hack and Slashers and HM fans.
Though the graphics still aren't the best, it does beat out the others. It's still fun to do the farming and also the combat makes it even more entertaining. There was still plenty of choices for marriage, but I still don't like that there isn't the option to be a girl... Also, it seemed a bit too easy to win over the characters. I think there should have been more time put into it, but overall, this is one of my favorites. :]
