Rated 10 out of 10 by milliemouse Best one yet!
I've been following this series since the first Rune Factory, and since then Rune Factory 2 did an amazing follow up with a longer, indepth story and even able to play a second generation. This Rune Factory is even better! The combat part of this game is more challanging, and for the first time ever you can choose if you want the difficulty to be "Normal" or "Hard". The characters in this game are from a wide variety from elves to mermaids to drawfs and all their personalities really pop. The main story line (as usual) is a young man coming to the village with his memory lost, but eventually realizes he's half monster! And you can actually transform into his cute wolly form. This form gives combat a whole new feel. The graphics are ten times better than in Rune Factory 2, the music is better, and overall there is a lot more to do. There are always requests to do, and you can even invite people with you on dates or to help you fight. THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR RUNE FACTORY LOVERS!

I really enjoyed playing the Rune Factory series because it has a little of everything I enjoy about gaming in it. Lots of save points, the freedom to move about the map while having a well defined story line to follow but having mini-goals so that you feel a sense of accomplishment more often in the game. I am not a hard-core gamer, just someone who likes to pick up her DS every few months or so and spend a few rainy afternoons and evenings playing on it. This game is not super easy, there were a few "what-am-I-missing-here" moments but nothing challenging enough to make me want to hop on the net to find the walk-through. One downer about this game (like all Rune Factory games) is that it was dubbed. I not a fan of dubbing, I believe much is lost in how a character feels in dubbing. Western voice actors just doesn't have "moe". It's rare to find them doing "cute" without me feeling "annoying" added after the 2nd time you hear their voice. Great job on the text translations though. No problem there.

I really did enjoy this game! While playing Rune Factory 3 i tried going back to 1 and 2 to compare the difference and i found that the character is more free flowing then in the other 2 and the graphics are better ( obviously you would expect that ). I do feel however that more interaction could of been done with the children i.e: being able to let them follow you around town! ( not being allowed to go into dungeon areas ) and no-one says hows the kids once you've had them? that would be good for number 4. Another option i thought would be good to let people design their character like in Dragon Quest : Starry Sky and being able to go to different villages or towns to get certain seeds and items that you can't get in the village your living in and not have all the girls in one place for you to woo as it will make more effort on the game players part. But overall Rune Factory 3 is much better then the first and second and very funny to.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Xingku LOVE IT, but....
My opinion, the story seems too short! I mean, yeah, I can probably find things to do after beating all the bosses like lvling up my character, trying to get all the girls, or unlocking all the weapons, armors, accessories, and etc... but that gets boring pretty fast. I wished that the conflict in the game wouldn't have been solved so easily, I easily beat all the bosses after lvling up up a bit, and upgrading my weapons. I think there could have been more quests too, even after you marry. The kids are cute lol, too bad they cant inherit traits from the girls, that would've looked awesome. I liked using those plant monsters helping me out, especially the sword plant cuz it looks badass. I have no prob with the character designs cuz I love anime, I got used to how blocky the characters look after playing the first two games. Ehh, I guess my only problem was just the story seeming to be too short. I don't ever want it to end! lol jk

I've been a huge fan of the Rune Factory series for a long time now. I can't stand Harvest Moon and yet this off-shoot of it is amazing. It has everything you can imagine: farming, fighting, fishing, mining, cooking, crafting, forging, and romance. You can do whichever one you feel like one day and something else the next, or you can do all of these activities in a day. You can really make the game go on forever. I play these games on and off for years, I just get cravings for them. Honestly I can't understand why anyone likes Farmville, because this game has more advanced farming and you can do other stuff as well.
Rune Factory 3 is pretty much the same as the others, only with more stuff to do in each area (fishing, cooking, etc). I don't really care about the story because that's not the point of the game. The point is to enjoy yourself and do what you want, for as long as you want. As for transforming into a Wooly, it's not that beneficial but the Wooly form is strong and has some fun moves. Plus it's cute.
I can't wait for Rune Factory Oceans, I will definitely have to buy it.
Rated 9 out of 10 by iNINJA Rune Factory 3- YES!
I played the first rune factory and loved the gameplay, but there were problems. i bought three a while back, and i am amazed at what they have done with this game. As usual, you do a large number of things; Cook, Farm, Fish, Forge, Mine, Raise Monsters, Learn magic, Fight with several diffferent types of weapons, craft items into new items, and so much more. Yes, i did say more! To be honest, i havent even beaten the game due to how much fun i'm having just goofing around. Also, with the previous games, you had to get pretty far to upgrade your home. Now this happens automatically after beating the first boss. Also, even though the whole relationship thing is kinda wierd, the bacholorettes are really diverse and interesting. I love the music, it is fantastic as well. So, buy this the second you see it, becouse ive played for more than 60 hours and am still loving it.
Rated 9 out of 10 by LoneWolfknight if u ever enjoyed a harvest moon game u will love
As far as portable fun goes, this one takes the cake. Granted some of you who only like shooters and platformers, well this game isn't for you. However if this is your type of game there is plenty to do. and as far as graphics go its great on a DSi. lots of things going on at same time and rarely if ever any slow down. music is enjoyable and never gets on your nerve, especially since there is enough variance that no one song ever gets repetetive. gameplay is great with all you can expect from a harvest moon game, the farming is there, the love choices, quest, pets and dugeons are all good and varied. there are sporatic voice scene scattered throughout the game and while they won't be winnig any emmy's they were also not annoying. all in all it is a big time suck and will get you engrossed in the gameplay from the get go, plus you are never but a few seconds away from a save (teleport spell) if u haft to shutdown real quick but the DSi sleep mode should suffice for most. So, again if u like these simulation,/Rpg type games this is a defenite winner, if your a shooter fan not so much haha. have fun and enjoy Peace

It is an absolutely amazing game. I loved the last two Rune Factories, and I fell in love with this one instantly. There were multiple voice tracks for every character, the graphics were satisfactory for DS, and the gameplay was very smooth, not nearly as much lag as the past games. The only problem I have with it is that after you beat the game, there isn't too much to do. Once you get married and beat the game, it starts to get a little boring. I mean, you can always raise everyone's love/friendlyness stats to 10 and learn all of the recipes, but there's not really any motivation to. Other than that though, it is a great game that has a great opening song (that I'm listening to right now) and overall amazing gameplay. I would recommend it to a friend, relative, or stranger.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Mandi123 Better than the rest.. but still lacks graphics
I played rune factory 2 and took it back because it was soo boring. . . thats why i hesitated on this game. but as i got into the game i found it was challenging and has an exiting story line! The characters are unique and fun to talk to.. they can also help you fight in the dungeons ! I would deff. recommend this to any fan of fantasy/ rune factory/ or harvest moon gamers. But despite the amazing monsters and exciting story line, it still, like all the rune factory/HM games for DS, lacks much visual appeal. The sound is great, and i liked the fact some of the story lines are read aloud. the music goes good with all of the settings too, but there is little visual details to make it as appealing as it could be.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Alalalalawoo Addicting game, short storyline.
Rune Factory 3, like all Rune Factory games are rather addicting: the ability to farm, battle, and raise a family makes almost ANYONE want to pull an all nighter JUST to play this. Rune Factory 3 comes with the fact that, the main protagonist, Micah, is also a wooly, which is a cute bonus. You can cook, make medicine, make/upgrade accessories/weapons. Lots of features. However, I find a few cons in this game: 1) It has one of the shortest storyline out of ALL the Rune Factory games. 2) There aren't many dungeons, only 5. 3) Wooly transformation isn't exactly all that strong or useful. The game only has a few cons, though. Don't let them bother you! The game is very fun, and I would recommend this game to ANYONE.
