Surprisingly good!
I love puzzle games but had not heard of this one before purchasing. Was very surprised by the originality of the game as well as how long the game lasted. I loved that there were a wide assortment of puzzles & a variety of deminsions included in the game play. Looking forward to & hoping for a Puzzle Chronicles 2.

Wait JUST ONE MINUTE...
Let me start off by saying I believe one should actually BUY THE GAME and PLAY IT before making a REVIEW of it.. I have bought it and am playing it... The name says a lot, they learned from what failed in the other versions apparently... I was highly reluctant to buy it, as I bought the two after PQ CotW and was highly disappointed. Don't judge this book by it's cover. To presume that this is simply a knock-off of Puzzle Quest Challenge of the Warlords is a mistake. Don't presume that because two other puzzle-RPG mixtures have failed to capture PQ's Magic that this will fail as well, you're very likely to be wrong in my IMO. This game takes the puzzle-battle RPG concept further. The tutorials will immediately convey the fact that this game is NOT simply riding the coat-tails of PQ but Puzzle Chronicles used the PQ concept as an example of what a mixture of this type can be and sculpted from there. The battles offer much better (deeper) combinations without convoluting the battle system to the point of confusion; in other words it's not just filler. Since I'm early on in the story I can't comment on that yet. The graphics are fine for the type of game it is, HD graphics would be a waste here of course. The battle procedures are presented with horizontal falling gems like Lumines for the PSP: This is to Puzzle Quest what Poker is to Tic-Tac-Toe, it's that kind of difference. It's really NOT JUST a puzzle match three game... but that part is difficult to explain in this short space. The interface is direct, clear and understandable enough, better than Puzzle Kingdoms of Galactrix IMO. Whether the story lives up to that of PQs' aura remains to be seen. I think you'll like this one, if these type games inspire you than give it a try, it certainly isn't money wasted that's my experience, I hope yours is the same... Again on the suface these might appear the same, but that thinking will prove to be pure prejudice. There's far too much of that in the world, get it and YOU decide! Enjoy

Puzzle Quest..I mean, Chronicles
It seems like the newest wave of puzzle games is to try to copy "Puzzle Quest" and put a twist to it. This didn't work when "Puzzle Quest: Galactrix" was released. That game was a disaster. But the concept of Puzzles and Quests must be a good one because of the copycats that have come out. "Hero's of Might & Magic: Clash of Hero's" is the 1st game to come out and put a really nice twist to the concept and I am really hoping that "Puzzle Chronicles" can only improve on that with the added Dungeons. I will be buying "Chronicles", as it comes out on my birthday, and really hope it's great. That's why I rated everything on a 6. (I am being hopeful) So, Here I am a 56 year old man, still gaming, and still looking for a good Puzzle Quest type game to come out. Besides waiting for "Puzzle Quest 2" comes out, I will be trying every game that comes close to that formula. I even asked if I could BETA test the game, but no such luck...so far.
