Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version feature new Pokémon that players can catch, train and battle as they progress through the game, and some Pokémon can only be caught in one version of the game. For example, the Legendary Pokémon Reshiram can only be caught in Pokémon Black Version, while the Legendary Pokémon Zekrom can only be caught in Pokémon White Version. Additionally, the two games feature different areas for the first time in the series, with the game world of Pokémon Black Version featuring a unique metropolitan area called Black City, and a lush, green area named White Forest only found in Pokémon White Version. Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version also mark the first time in a Pokémon video game that the seasons will change in the game world. Certain Pokémon appear more frequently during different seasons, and players can only access some areas during a specific season.

The games feature more than 150 never-before-seen Pokémon, more than any previous Pokémon video game has introduced. Until players complete the main adventure, they will only encounter these new Pokémon, creating a new experience that series fans and newcomers alike can enjoy for the first time.
Players assume the role of a young Pokémon Trainer who travels throughout the Unova region, catching and training Pokémon and battling other Trainers on a quest to become the Pokémon League Champion. Players must defeat other powerful Trainers while working to uncover the plans of the mysterious Team Plasma.
The in-game high-tech C-Gear lets players easily connect in a variety of ways. The C-Gear can connect to Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection and sync with the Pokémon Global Link. When users are playing locally, they can use the C-Gear to trade Friend Codes, trade Pokémon and battle seamlessly.
Using IR technology that is built into the game card, it's faster than ever to set up battles and trades with nearby friends.
The in-game Xtransceiver lets players using a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL system connect via video chat using the system's camera. Up to four players can use the service locally, or two can use it via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (each player needs his or her own system).
The games mark the first time in a Pokémon video game that the seasons will change in the game world. Certain Pokémon appear more frequently during particular seasons, and players can only access some areas during a specific season.
The Pokémon Global Link lets players save their game data to a website and enjoy their Pokémon outside of the game. When accessing the Pokémon Global Link, players can visit and customize the Pokémon Dream World to play minigames and watch their Pokémon's dreams; they can access the Global Battle Union to view their world ranking; and they can connect to the Global Trade Station, which lets them view their trades with other players.
In a series first, the two games feature different areas. The game world of Pokémon Black Version features a unique metropolitan area called Black City, while the lush, green area called White Forest is only found in Pokémon White Version. Some Pokémon are unique to one version of the game.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

I love this game. I just got it recently, and have been extremely addicted to it. It felt very new to me, but i hadn't played a Pokemon game since Blue. Many reviews insult the new Pokemon. I love this Generation, the Pokemon are awesome. The songs are catchy, especially the song from Driftveil city. This game is a challenge that requires strategy, like any Pokemon game. And no, it is not just a little kid game. I would reccomend this for anybody from 7-Adult! This is one of, no, the best RPG i've ever played. Hands down.

This review was a little biased because i hadn't played many pokemon games. Now that i have played through one of every generation, i would say this game isn't as great compared to others.

This game is perfect for: hardcore gamers

Pokemon Red and Blue Version's release in North America was revolutionary. Who didn't have Red or Blue, or Gold and Silver for that matter, on their GameBoy. Then Ruby and Sapphire came out and was still good but didn't get as much as it wanted. Diamond and Pearl earned incredible sales, along with HeartGold and SoulSilver. Then this Shining, Near-Perfect RPG Game comes along, and noone cares. Honestly it brings a tear to my eye that people say Pokemon's "childish". They obviously never realized how much startegy it takes. But enough on that. Pokemon Black and White brought me back to Red and Blue, an undiscovered world full of excitment and new things! Not like previous games where it seemed they ran out of time designing Pokemon and inserted old ones (i.e. Magikarp and Zubat). If you actually follow the story, it is quite exciting, touching and wonderfull. Challenging all the same, with a reward for every challenge. Game Sync is a nice touch but I don't find my self using it often. They improved the move, ability, and Pokemon filter in Multiplayer, and if you want to feel young again, THIS IS IT!

edge of my seat whole entire game spelling F-U-N like that when N beat me in battles its epic i would recommend this to anyone ive been a huge pokemon fan for years but now this has made me an even bigger fan its a perfect casual fun exciting action adventure game cant wait for pokemon black & white 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! keep em' coming Nintendo your doing great!

Pokemon White is a brand new world full of brand new Pokemon and brand new villains. This makes for an awesome experience right up until you beat the Elite Four. However, that's not where a Pokemon game should end. There is another whole side of the region to explore, but the main appeal is that you can find pokemon from past generations there. There are a few legendaries you can catch, but they're not that interesting, at least to me. I played this game after finishing Soul Silver, so I had just finished the most jammed-packed Pokemon game made. I expected white to match up, but it just didn't. They replace the battle frontier with the battle subway, which is much less entertaining, as it's basically just the battle tower. (it doesn't even utilize triple or rotation battles). You can't rematch the gym leaders, which is disappointing. I did like this game though, it has cool gameplay features (pokemon move, triple and rotation battles) and the online matches can be pretty fun. I would say hold out for Black and White 2, because hopefully those will have good returning features, like a safari zone, a battle frontier, and gym leader rematches.

Pokemon White brings Pokemon back to the DS. This new generation of Pokemon adds on to the almost 500 existing Pokemon to make it 600+. The change in visuals in special areas is a new twist to the game. There are also other changes to the game such as 2 rivals instead of one and new setup to the pokedex, but there are many more for the gamer to discover.
