This game is perfect for Anime lovers, and even mystery solvers! I loved this game from the get go. The controls are REALLY EASY; heck, even a baby could play this game! You have to scratch at the screen at times in order to progress in some scenes (which is kinda bad in a way, but not too horrible). I love the interactions with all the characters, and the fact that it had multiple endings (bad, normal, good, etc.).
Could be a good game...
First I want to start with the storyline.
It was a great story that pulls you in more with every chapter. The three different endings was a nice touch. (Even though I still haven’t gotten the Good Ending.) I love how Atsuki starts out at a new school and makes friends but has a secret life as well. I won’t go to far into the story because I could just go on and on about how good it was. But the fact is the story will get you hooked.
Second I want to talk about the graphics.
I think here in America we don’t appreciate good graphics. I have only found a hand full of games with amazing graphics. And I’m very picky about graphics. But in Lux-Pain everything is so well done they get a 10 from me. I like how there isn’t a second of bad graphics. Although this is NOT a fighting game. If you’re looking for action, look else where. Because you are only reading and taking out silent.
Third I want to talk about the voice acting and translation.
The translation could have been better. I mean way better. But anyone would be able to figure out what they mean. The voice acting is amazing! I wasn’t expecting voice acting at all, actually. It was a pleasant surprise. I do admit that sometimes the person would say things that don’t match the words exactly but all can be forgiven for the graphics, voice acting, and deep story line.
Fourth is the overall opinion.
A must buy game for anyone wanting a causal game with a great story line. (And not minding horrible translation)
First Note: VERY bad translation. There are a lot of errors in this game that could've been solved before it was released, grammar psychos beware.
Second Note: I highly enjoyed this game. I got it around the time that it came out thinking it sounded pretty interesting and boy! I was not disappointed. :]
The plot was very unique, I've never seen anything like it. And I liked that the RPG style represented The World Ends With You in a way. These kinds of games tend to go unnoticed as compared to shooter and the ultra popular games that already have a form for the XBox, such as Assassin's Creed.
Now, I'm not saying these games are bad, but games like those tend to get a little old after a while, and for a jot of something knew I would recommend this one. Sure its just pressing down on some things that contain words, but believe me, you can lose if you run out of time [and they only give you about 30 secs at first!]. I've lost before and it made me mad.
I'm hoping that rumors of a sequel come true just like with TWEWY. I will definably buy this again. :]
I won't say much about the ending, but be prepared to have your heart wrenched a little.
As a fan of the Phoenix Wright series, this was a great game. Unfortunately here in America, visual novel type games like this are unappreciated in favor of shooters and more shooters.
Lux-Pain has beautiful artwork throughout the game, and charming characters, but noticeable lapses in a good translation team, there are times when the voice actors aren't in sync with what's written on the screen, but it can easily be forgiven for it's rich story,
This game has excellent Graphics and music, also the interaction with the game play and having to actually figure out how to get to the real ending(got it on my first try and now it's impossible for me to do it again). But for people who want to be challenged with battles or who like extreme Game play would not enjoy this game, but to those who want a more laid back game to just enjoy and take time and enjoy the good things it brings would really enjoy this game. When I bought this game I had no expectations at all it just looked like an interesting game, and it was! I finished it in two days of non-stop playing and failing only once because I didn't know what to do. I still play it till today and I bought it when it first came out. But I do wish there was more interaction with the battle screens but oh well, its still an excellent game.
This game is great for me and anime fans!
This game is a graphic novel it is not a typical game most people in the U.S.A. are used to, that is why their are such bad reviews from some people who didn't play it very long. The game is worthy of a 10 maybe a 9 from me because it is Excellent for me, though it is not perfect, the text translation is not perfect but anyone with half a brain should be able to figure out what they meant and get a chuckle at the random moments where they forget to put the letter s in front of he. I love this game because I love how it has the dark anime feel to it though it does not get very bloody, as previous reviewers said, the characters actions are actually very realistic and deal with the things society trys not to think about to much but the emotional kids out there have probably put ample time into many of the things these characters say. (though the cause for the actions are not very realistic xD) and with some of the scary things that get said by a few of the characters during certain moments in the game and you can actually feel it give you chills, yet there is much more to it then that, you also have the different interaction choices with people that can sometimes even be romantic (no fan service for the nasty weirdos wanting a thrill from a video game though) xD.
The voice acting is great, the cut scenes look like your watching a anime dvd on tv, the story will suck you in, and the music is really great and fits the scenes it is used for and overall I wish there were more games like this in America, I love graphic novels and this is a really good one, it just could have used someone with better ability's to translate the text into english, this is a great graphic novel, but if you are looking for a rpg like final fantasy look else where because the fighting in this game is not Final Fantasy, it is a unique fighting style that is not to hard to deal with, you may lose a few times (like in any game) but it is not anything to hard to deal with, this game is more of a story game then a fighting game so don't get it if your looking for a fight xD.
Awesome for anime lovers.
True as most reviews say this "game' is less of a game and more of a interactive novel. I would not recommend this game to gamers that want constant game play and challenge as there are few moments in this game that make you want to crawl into a corner after losing for the fifteenth time. I for one love this game; this game is one of the few instances where people is North America can get a good visual novel type game. The storyline is impressive and keeps you hooked word for word although at times it is a little hard to follow as the game was either localized too fast or just with bad translators. The game has a lot of spellings errors but if you can ignore it as it is easy to decipher what hey are truly saying then you can get to enjoy this game unlike those who pull on every single little strand of a games fault lines. The sound is amazing which includes the superb voice acting which I wish was included more often. The opening song is dramatic which is my favorite kind of song. The graphics are great even though it is 2D. Just like graphics should be though. The length though was about 15 hours for me; I wish it was longer as I felt a sort of sense of disappointment at the quickfire endings which I didn't expect to come so soon. The challenge is low because once you have been around the battle for a while it becomes extremely easy as the challenge does not increase that much as you go on through the game. Back to the storyline now. The storyline was truly something that grabbed at me and didn't let go as it kept me waiting to see what was around the corner. The story presents many twists, mysteries, and someones even a sicking feeling at some of the games more unpleasant presentations. I felt that this was a great game and is attacked by gamers and reviewers all the time. If the game had a little more game play and better localization I'm sure this would be a favorite among favorites. I highly recommend this game to anyone who plays RPGs for the storyline more than other features.
I've been playing it for over 63 hours.
I finished the story the first time and said "That was totally aweesome!!!!!!" Then I unlocked the ARCHIVE section under EXTRA menu. So I had to unlock all of the archive movies. I enjoy the different personallities of all of the characters. Atsuki is hot.... I like that they made it so that you can choose what to answer and what your mood is. You have to also decide where you should go based on the story line. You can save almost when ever you want instead of trying to find a save point. I enjoy completing the story over and over again even though I've unlocked all of the movies under the ARCHIVE menu. It's just so addicting! Overall, the only bad thing I found about this game is that there are a few spelling mistakes. But, they are usually pretty small that you can figure out what they mean. In my opinion, Lux Pain is THE best game to come out.
Not as great as I thought
I'd have to agree with Roxel on this one. I judged a book by its cover and instantly thought "Wow, this looks like a good game" When I read the back I was even more curious about it and decided to buy it. Worst decision ever. I'm actually returning a game! I never thought I'd have to do that. Just as Roxel had said, its nothing more then scratching the bottom screen, seeing peoples thoughts and wala, you're done. The boss wasn't even challenging and I failed once because I didn't know what to do. It was very confusing in the beginning. Aside from that, I thought that the storyline was pretty good, if it had better fighting ways I wouldn't mind the game at all. Another thing I did like about it though, was the setup. When I first saw it I thought it would have been and Atlus game. Now I'm ashamed to eve think of that. I liked a majority of it, but the challenge level and the controls were very poor, this is a game I would NOT recommend to others.
This game was one of the worst ds games i ever wasted my money on. All you do it tap on little button things that have words on them. It goes very slow and there is no point to playing this game. Also, they don't explane anything. It was very confusing and had no point. And when you use Sig-Ma, all you do is scrach o=the touch screen untill you find the wierd blob things that you have to scrach off. There was no point to this whole game and the battles with the silent thing where very annoying. You dont even fight. You just tapp these bubble things when the turn white. Although i thought the grapthics where ok and the storyline wasn't too bad, the gameplay ruined the whole game. Next time, if the make another one, they should fix the battles so there a challange, not just poping bubbles.
