Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands
WORTH AS MUCH AS FALLOUT NEWVEGAS XD
this is the worst harvest moon game ive ever played. Its boring and lacks the fun gameplay i always get addicted to in the harvest moon franchise. the story isnt worth playing. The reason i came here is because under "used games" it was this game and for the same price fallout new vegas. i bought both games used, and unlike new vegas i got bored of this the first hour
Worst HM game I've played
First let me just say: I am a huge Harvest Moon fan, so Sunshine Islands came as a big disapointment to me. The graphics were bad; horrible even compared to the other HM's I have played. The storyline was okay, if not a little boring. The vileragers are ridiculously boring, with barely any personality that I could see and they always said the same thing pretty much every time I talked to them. Everything about Sunshine Islands, in fact, was very boring. Every day in the day I played was exactly the same, with the exception of festival days, which weren't that much better, seeing as how the festivals were pretty much useless and not very fun. And the one thing that annoyed me the most: you can't even ride your horse! So basically, the horse is a huge waste, as the only reason for the horse in the first place is so that you can navigate through the map easier. And not being able to ride it obviously defeats the purpose completely. So my horse just sat in its stall and I guess they expect you to just look at it or something. Then when I let it out--oh yeah, another hugely annoying thing about Sunshine Islands, you can't even let all your animals out at once! you have to push each animal out of the barn or coop or stable one at a time! it takes forever!--anyways, when I let the horse out, it ran around my farm really fast. So I had to run all over my property to find my horse when I wanted to return it to its stall, which was super annoying since I kept accidently letting my horse out all the time. In conclusion: I LOVE Harvest Moon games, but if you're looking to buy an HM, don't buy this one. It's the worst HM I've ever played. But don't let that discourage you! Harvest Moon games are the best! Just try another one.
This was almost as bad as island of happiness, bur not quite. It was so boring and nowhere near as good as any of the other harvest moon games.
I Perfer Rune Factory
This game is just average. There is nothing special about this farming game.
This is the best game!
I love this game. It is Addicting and It is very fun for everyone who has played it. I brought it yesterday and I have been playing ever since. (:
The Harvest Moon series just kicked up a notch
When I first heard that a new Harvest Moon game was coming to the DS, I was determined to buy it. After buying this game, I have not regret for one moment buying it.
This is definetly the most advanced HM game on the market, with specific "water points" and "sun points" for not only crops, but grains and trees too! There are even more animals involved this time too with cat, pig, badgers, sparrows, rabbits, ducks, mice and monkeys to name some of them.
The tool upgrade is a bit of a pain since you need to use "wonderfuls" which are very rare, and can only be won in festivals, and after many (game) years of work, made by yourself.
The romantic prospects are a plenty in this game, both for female and male players.
For those who liked the mining system in previous HM games will love this one with lots of challenging floors (255 floors to be exact) to explore.
A huge tips for players, both experienced and newbies: BUY THE STRATEGY GUIDE. I will pretty much say it is a "must have" to manage to play this game, and have fun with it (sadly, but true)
This game is without doubt a 5 out of 5 in my book, and a must buy for HM lovers and time managment / simulation fans!
Good luck, and happy farming!
THIS GAME IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!<3
I thought this game will be like Island of Happiness so I tried it out. When I started playing it was really fun so far. I recommend this to casual gamers or kid gamers which ever. If you are thinking about this game you should get it!!!!!!!!!This is a really fun game and I know you will LOVE it!!!!<3
I got this game for Christmas last year and it was seriously the first game I played and was completely addicted to. This was the first Harvest Moon game that I have ever played and since I have played it, I bought HM:GB and HM:AP as well. This game was a lot better than I originally expected and I'm glad about that. I adored the characters and their personalities. The fact that there were goals you had to reach in order to collect the Sun Stones I enjoyed as well, although others may disagree. The game has its own level of difficulty, expecially with the collection of the Sun Stones, but it is very enjoyable. You can chose to use the stylus or the control pad in many instances in the game, but I stuck with the control pad since the stylus part was a pain. There is plenty to do, weither it be training your cat, dog or horse for the festivals, making sure you greet and give gifts to all the villagers, mining, fishing, cooking and the all important task of taking care of your crops. This game provided hours upon hours of entertainment and is a definite must-have.
Im in love....
I've been playing harvest moon games for awhile now, since i was like 5! and once i bought island of happiness i was very disappointed because i had to use the stylus to run around, which doe not sparkle with me. but my mom bought me sunshine island i was kinda mad, i thought it was going to be another island of happiness but it wasn't! i am in love with this game! its so addicting, i'm not even kidding my parents have to literally pry it out of my hands to get my attention! this is one of the best harvest moon games i own (and i own a lot!) i love the story line its very original but its not going to off course of the original theme of the game. the graphics are amazing! i love all the characters expressions, especially shea's embarrassed face its so cute i couldn't stand but do a fan girl squeal. and to all the fan girls out there, u will love the adorable faces of the bachelors! i did! xD overall i really love this game i recommend this to anyone who loves harvest moon, and to anyone whos just starting/ or wanting to start playing the harvest moon series
The brighter side of Harvest Moon.
This game has been keeping me busy for months, and I still enjoy playing it! There's so much things to do in this game; ranging from fishing to mining, and more. First off, one of the things I really liked about this game is that it actually is a true sequel to Island of Happiness, and you don't have to use the stylus 24/7.The controls of this game is actually pretty neat. You have the option of using either the stylus OR the directional pad and the buttons. There are also a couple of additional characters, while subtracting a good handful of all the uneccessary villagers. I found this actually great because in IoH, there were so much villagers that it was getting on my nerves. Another tweak is how the game managed to condense all the space from IoH into tiny islands. The houses are also closer together so it's easier to navigate. However, one slight negative aspect is that the horse is not ridable in this game. But it's okay! Everything is nearby so I can see why they opted to remove the horse. The storyline in this game is rather bland. But in any case, a Harvest Moon game doesn't entirely rely on a storyline. The only reason why I scored them above average is because they put in effort into the story this time around. One annoying to task to do in this game is collecting sunstones. This can be a rather tedious task because there are 100 sunstones to collect, and they are needed to "fully complete" the game. Ways to get the sunstones are through befriending villagers, shipping crops, or making your animals happy. But if you were really determined to collect the sunstones, I'm sure you'll be able to collect them in no time. I'm just too lazy to gather them up. Harvest Moon games were never known for it's graphics, but it's perfectly fine! Harvest Moon games have a really zesty anime feel and it's a cornucopia of cute graphics. The sprites have a lot more detail than the past games and I suppose they're a plus. The environments have improved greatly compared to past games. The challenge in this game can be really difficult for newcomers. Actually, I suggest one does their research first before playing this game. If you know what you're doing beforehand, then this game can be a ton of found. This game does rely on a lot of researching ahead of time if you want to get the most out of the gameplay. The sound is recycled music from Island of Happiness. It has a really retro feel with a twist of anime-like instrumentals. The music changes each season and in my opinion, the heart event musics are one of the greater tracks. The characters in this game are returnees from Island of Happiness plus a couple of new ones. The heart events and some of their personalities are either the same, or entirely new. Some for bad, some for good. The only thing I wish was for more marriage candidates as none fill my interest, but you take what you can get! All in all, this game is great for... teens. Yes, teens. Teens with knowledge for time management and day planning. Int his game, every minute counts and should be used productively! Sadly, this game does not seem suited for kids because it does involve marriage and having a baby, so I would suggest not buying this for them. Also, it can be hard at times and kids may get bored from the lack of action going on.
