Reviews don't express the amount of glitches in this game well enough. Out of a score from 1-10 of lasting appeal this truly should be 1 or 0. I did not go beyond year 1 without a glitch, and I'm looking for a harvest moon game now without glitches, they are gamebreaking.
Rated 7 out of 10 by FarmerJohn....lol Decent, long game
Harvest Moon DS is a good game with a few minor faults. One of which is the time in a day. I mean it doesn't take four hours to go water a row of strawberries, but I thought the game did a good job of twisting crop growing time to fit the game so you don't have to wait one or two years to have a relatively successful farm. The game time is a good speed if you wish to go though the game quickly. One of the most relieving aspects of the game is you literally have all the time you want. The game goes on until you want to quit. I also enjoyed the new form of hiring Harvest Sprites. Also, there are a lot of die-hard Harvest Moon fans out there so if you would ever need game help you would have no problem finding it. All-in-all I thought the game had a few small problems (one of which is the time speed), but was a good building block for more, better Harvest Moon titles on the DS and was an entertaining game.

Im very glad this game came out on DS. Harvest Moon is such a weird concept that went in a great direction. Who knew raising plants and animals could be so much fun!
Getting to know the characters in the game is a great experience. You don't really expect this from a simulation kind of game but Natsume did it perfectly. I highly recommend this game to all ages of casual gamers.

Well all i got to say is this it's a good game not much of a challenge though once you get the hang of it it's fun yeah it is but soon you'll relize your doing the same thing over and over again feed/caring to animals going to see the girl you want to marry collect and sell and go mining untill you get the harvest sorites working for you i mean the only thing i didnt like is that you had to collect 60 harvest sprite to get married so the harvest goddes can ring the bells (pretty lame) well other than that you soon find that the harvest sprites are mindless slaves working 24/7 on your farm besides the storms and festivals and all that. I am a harvest moon fan but this game kinda through it off yeah they added some new features but they really didnt make it much more fun. But still it was ok kept me occupied.

This game has many new things to offer, compared to the Harvest Moon for game boy Advance. You can now have ducks, and even a cat! This story has a brand new story line which follows the game very well indeed. You can live your life raising animals, or you can do that even with a wife of your choice. Starting out on new games can be difficult, but this game teaches you how to begin so your not ever confused. You can travel the town meeting new people in there homes, or their stores! Each day has something different whether its an event, or new weather, such as sunshine, rain, tornadoes/wind, and more! This game has many new exiting features anyone would enjoy playing! No matter how old or small you are anyone can enjoy this adorable, fun, exciting game! So sit down and have fun, your in for a journey!
Rated 9 out of 10 by 9865196581965296874519685 I WOULD BUY THIS OVER HARVEST MOON DS CUTE
I bought this game when it first came out. It was great until the cute version came out. I traded this game in to get the cute version. Its been about 3 years since i bought the cute version. I really want the boy version (harvest moon ds) back because you can use sooo many cheats to get money, but in the cute, they removed all of the cheats so you can use them. (the billion G Glitch gets you 1,000,000,000 dollars, one of many cheats) Buy this game over the cute, even if you are a girl, like me. Overall the cute and this game are wonderful and i would recommend these to ANYONE. Please buy this game, don't waste your money on any other ds game. or like me, the cute. but if you have both games, yes go buy the cute!! but i only suggest buying the cute if you are a girl(it was made for girls)

This is a game I have had for awhile. it is one of the first harvest moon games I had ever played. This was my favorite harvest moon game until I played tree of tranquility. It has everything that you would enjoy in an harvest moon and is as fun as ever. I also really enjoyed the storyline. If you like farming games then more than likely you will enjoy this game.
Rated 4 out of 10 by Gardening101 Pretty good game
Harvest Moon DS is a pretty good game for fans of the series. It is the usual build up a farm with crops and animals and find a marriage partner. This game spans about 3-4 years before you get married, letting you concentrate on things and not making you rush into a decision (kinda like life). The Good: The characters are all cute and cuddly. The story line is pretty interesting. There is a similar twist to mining like there is in Rune Factory for DS. You also get to marry a mermaid. Everyone has their own story, so it is best to become good friends with everyone. There are also 4 women to marry who do not have any rivals, but they take a lot longer to marry. Fun mini games like in the casino are very fun (need to rescue certain sprites before it is unlocked...). You can also choose where to place your buildings and what they are made out of (stay away from grass buildings...). The music is pretty good, it even changes depending on your health (if you are very low on stamina/fatigue, the music will slow down and sound bad). The Bad: the days seem to pass by a lot quicker than the other games. Need to plan on one main activity a day, not much multi tasking time is given. The text in the game has a sarcastic tone, instead of the more peaceful/helpful messages like the other games. You get ordered around, called lazy and the overall feel of the conversations are negative. Also, you can't hybridize crops...I miss Tartan. This game is good for those who want a change of pace and with a little more challenge. If you are new to the series, check out the older ones. Overall, it is a decent game, but not the best in the series.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Harvestmoonguy The Biggest and Best Harvest Moon Game!
Harvest Moon DS is a game in the series that seems to be pretty underestimated. It takes place in A Wonderful Life's Forget-Me-Not Valley with all the same people and places, in addtion to a couple new ones. The main goal of the game is to revive the Harvest Goddess after being turned to stone by the Witch Princess. To do this, you must rescue a minimum of 60 Harvest Sprites from the other world. This element of the game pushes the player to explore and work hard in every aspect of farming. Rescuing a sprite can be as easy as looking into a well or as hard as shipping 1000 crops. This part of the game can have excessive goals, but that's why this game is so good. As for the marrying aspect of the game, I'm pretty sure it has the most eligible bachelorettes of any Harvest Moon game. You can marry all the eligible girls from A Wonderful Life in addtion to Lumina and Flora. You can also marry two new exclusive girls, Leia, a mermaid, and Keira, a sleeping princess in the 3rd mine. Plus, if you own Friends of Mineral Town, you can connect it to unlock all of the girls from Mineral Town, however if you marry them, your game ends. Farming is relatively the same aside from being to level up your crops, which can earn you more money. One of the coolest things about the game is the Sprite Casino. You can play poker, blackjack, or a matching game. You earn coins which you can use to buy items only sold at the casino. The graphics are amazing, considering they didn't make it 3D, keeping it original with similarities to Friends of Mineral Town. There is so much to do in this game and its a lot of fun too. Easily in my top 3 Harvest Moon Games.
Rated 9 out of 10 by OcarinaOfAwesome The perfect farming game
The harvest moon series is amazing, but I would have to say that this is the best game in that series. Unlike newer installments, it never gets boring. there is always enough to do. This is a good, kid-friendly game that will appeal to anyone who likes casual games.
