Rated 8 out of 10 by Kyle Perryman Brilliant Game, Great Source Material
Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain is a first-person RPG based on the gamebook of the same name which, fortunately, the developers make great usage of the source material. If you are familiar with the gamebook, then you'll recognize characters, places, and events all brought lovingly to life in the game. In terms of comparison, this game can be likened to a portable Elder Scrolls or Hexen. The game is played through a first-person perspective, battle is played out in real-time, and you have full-control over your character. If you've played any first-person shooter on the DS, such as Metroid Hunters of Call of Duty, then you're already familiar with how this game controls. Fighting Fantasy: The Warlock of Firetop Mountain may not be a perfect game, but it's an enjoyable dungeon crawler with hours of gameplay and more than enough ways to play your character. I felt this game was a refreshing addition to the already stable DS RPG library. Highly recommended.

As far as 3D FPS games for the DS I believe they should stop making them. They just look horrible. No offence to the guys who made it but games like this on the DS look bad especially since the PSP looks 100% better in quality. Dont get me wrong I like Zelda on DS, and Mario and many other games on the DS. Please stop trying to make games with this FP camera because they look horrific. The world is "Ugly 3D" and the NPC are all sprites. I mean if your going to use the Diablo armor setup you might as well make the game top view like Diablo then I would consider playing this game. I really hope this is the last FPS game on the DS and Studios get the hint that they just look horrible. Nice attemp guys but if looks like a duck and walks like a duck then dont attemp to make it fly like an eagle.

I have been watching the progress of this game for a while now and I am so very impressed. I am a huge fan of the old Elder Scrolls games Arena and Daggerfall, and I honestly cannot wait for this games release. The graphics are beautiful, and the story will be absolutely epic (based on a set of classic fantasy books from Europe). It has been a long time since I have been anticipating a game for DS this much, and I have a feeling with the way this game looks to capture the feel of the first person RPG's of old I will not be disappointed.

For anyone who doesn't know, Fighting Fantasy was a series of deeper-than-usual do-it-yourself adventure books, which had you rolling up a character, purchasing items, and journeying deep into Firetop Mountain, to track down the Warlock. These books were insidiously difficult, and I never ever thought I would see them born again, especially on the DS! The last time I braved Firetop Mountain, I chanted a spell wrong, after guessing wildly, and destroyed the universe...

This game looks absolutely AMAZING! Its incredible! It reminds me a lot of other rpgs like Diablo and The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall. I never thought a game THIS good was possible! The graphics look amazing and the inventory system looks great. This definitely looks like a game I could play for hours non-stop.
