Product Details:

This brain-challenging game features logic puzzles inspired by IQ tests.

  • Become the world's greatest Monster Scout in Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2, a spinoff of the fan-favorite DRAGON QUEST core series. Players scout and collect monsters in order to build a team to battle enemies.
  • When a player's party encounters other monsters in a battle, they can try to recruit those monsters with their scouting skills. A meter on the top screen indicates the chance that players can scout a monster. The higher the number, the higher the chance the monster will join a player's party.
  • More than 300 different monsters are available to scout and synthesize. By synthesizing two different monsters, players can create new, more powerful monsters. These monsters can be customized using more than 240 skill trees. Some monsters return from previous DRAGON QUEST games, while others are new.
  • In battles, monsters level up to learn new skills and become more powerful.
  • Players can battle their monster teams against one another using a local wireless connection. Or, using a broadband Internet connection, they can connect to Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection to battle against other players.
  • The Wi-Fi World Tournament lets players battle against other monster teams around the world.
  • The game supports a variety of Tag Mode options that let players connect and share data with others:
    • Players who connect via Tag Mode with owners of DRAGON QUEST VI®: Realms of Revelation or DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies can scout monsters from those games.
    • Players who connect via Tag Mode with other Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 players can battle against them and have a chance to scout their monsters without affecting their games.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nostalgia with a healthy update I remember playing Dragon Warrior Monsters as a kid and it being one of my favorite games. I decided to pick up this game to see what has happened with the series since and I have to say that I'm impressed. I'm definitely coming into this with rose colored glasses but I am loving this game. I won't lie, it doesn't break any ground that hasn't been broken before and it certainly doesn't execute any one area well enough to deserve particular fame. But as a fun "final fantasy meets pokemon" kind of feel, it is done really well. The only concern I do have is that anyone who has worried over the moral implications of Pokemon should stay clear. Where Pokemon essentially limits the majority of their cartoon monsters to being slightly smarter than an average dog, DQM:J2 makes it clear that it's monsters are fully sentient creatures with developed societies and the capacity for conversing with humans on a level as equals. Additionally, where in older games in this series you would persuade monsters to join you using meat and other treats, in this one your other monsters press gang new companions. This slightly disturbing facet aside, though, definitely a solid game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome game, people This game had a great storyline and AWESOME characters with deep personalities. I REALLY liked the main character because he was an intruder on the airplane, then the silent flight attendent, then the silent newbie of monster scout, than a hero who saves a very prickly, spoiled girl, and an adventurer he was. I still like to start over and play again and enjoy the game.(=

Rated 4 out of 5 by from VERY VERY hard. This game is overall very fun but the graphics are not like nintendo and sometimes your at the point where you are stuck on a boss but the monsters to train on are to weak. I recommend the pokemon games more than the dragon quest series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly Addicting DQM:J2 is quite possibly one of the best games on the DS. The first one was good (and had an unforgettable commercial), but this game blows it out of the water. The amount of content packed into this game is truly awe-inspiring. It has a good plot, a terrific assortment of monsters, and the game mechanics are top notch. Monster synthesis is both fun and creative, and time flies quickly while training and synthesizing the perfect team. If you're looking for some substance in your DS experience, then this is definitely the best game you could get.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Amazing Game I pre-ordered this game because I could get double Power-Up Rewards Points. I had not played the previous game, so I looked at the trailers, and I saw that the first game was good, so I thought this would be even better. And it is. There are so many new monsters, and the 3D graphics were breathtaking. Unfortunately, if ever you close in on an object in the game, it will look pixelated. But it is not really a big issue. I can easily look past it, and I'm really picky about graphics, gameplay, etc. This is a good game to start with, even if you haven't played a Dragon Quest game before, since it introduces you to different monsters, so you'll have a head start on knowing all the new monsters, which will probably be used in the next Dragon Quest game. This is fairly similar to Pokemon games, so if you play Pokemon, this really won't be that new. Get this, especially if you're a Dragon Quest or Pokemon fan.
