  • In DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, players begin their adventure as a city guardian who is sent to retrieve a sacred tree's fruits, which have the power to grant wishes. Players travel the world, conquer fearsome monsters and unravel an epic storyline. During their journey, players will encounter mighty opponents in fast-paced battles, and also interact with a colorful cast of characters.
  • DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies contains special modes that let players share their adventure with others, allowing up to four players to team up via a local wireless connection and experience the fun of tackling challenging monsters and dungeons cooperatively with their own characters. Players can even leave the game active in their backpacks, pockets or purses and still interact with other players via an interactive "Tag Mode." Information about players' characters can be wirelessly transmitted to others, and treasure maps and customized greetings can be exchanged automatically by players who come within range of one another when their games are set to Tag Mode.
  • Players looking to enjoy a variety of different game activities can take on special side quests. Some of these quests will be earned by progressing through the game, while additional quests will be made available for free download for players with broadband Internet access after the game launches, providing hours of additional content for virtual adventurers to enjoy either on their own or with friends. Some downloadable quests will continue the main storyline of the game, while others offer standalone missions.

Game Informer Rating:

Rated 8.0 out of 10 by Game Informer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Engaging Storyline, Humorous Foes DragonQuestL Sentenials of the Starry Skies was the first DragonQuest game I played. Was very pleased with it. Engaging fanciful story. Hillarious enemies (some of which are HARD to beat) from Angel Falls to the Celestrial Realms. Interesting post-game content as well. Only main drawback is the daily store in the game in-game Inn that Nintendo had in use to purchase special items/equipment is no longer functional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Story, Great Re-playability, Great Game (keep in mind that this is my first dragon quest game when you read this) In my opinion, this game's story is pretty long, yet it never gets dull or repetitive which is difficult to achieve when making a story of any kind. Also, there is so much to do in the post-game that I have over 400 hours of playtime in this game and I still have things to do. I highly recommend this title to anyone who enjoys strategy RPGs. so yeah...... that's about it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Horribly overrated. I'm sorry. I know a lot of people love this game but I don't think its very good. You don't get any partners in this game except for the start. Why this is bad is because this game is difficult without any partners. I couldn't get past the third boss because grinding takes forever. Meaning in order to beat the game you're gonna need to team up with other players. But there's no online Co-op like LOZ Triforce Heroes. This is a horrible RPG. I'm gonna get some hate for this but I think Paper Mario: Sticker Star is a better RPG. I haven't played Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood but I'll guess it's probably worse. There are so many better RPG's on the DS & 3DS. Especially since there are better RPG remakes of Dragon Quest 4,5, & 6. With the 3DS remakes of Dragon Quest 7 & the fan favorite Dragon Quest 8 coming out next year. So yeah I can't recommend this game unless it comes out on the Wii U VC because you'll need save states to beat it on your own. But if a few of your friends also own it then I can recommend it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Game I first played this game when I was 9 years old and the story still stays with me now at 14 years old. I love this game so much. This game has beautiful music and the story is so sad and beautiful. I'm actually buying another cartridge so I can replay the game without deleting my previous gameplay since I finished the game. I love this game and hope it resonates with others like it did me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my favorite DS game When I bought my DS this game was the reason I got it, and it didn't disappoint at all!! I easily clocked in over a hundred hours playing this game & am still not done finishing it. There is just so much to do within the game, but my favorite aspect was the freedom you had to customize your partys equipment, appearance, gender ect. It is truly a unique RPG experience & one I would recommend to any RPG fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buying it again! I had this game and I ADORED it, but then my sister lost it for me along with Pokemon Heartgold. I was so angry at her, and I never bought either game again. Tomorrow I'm trading in seven games and this is going to be the FIRST thing I buy. I reached either Gleeba or Swinedimples (whichever is the later one) last time, but a save error set me back to the other one. So excited to get back!
