I am hopefull that this game will be good, with actual good graphics. I usually can't deal with the half-. . well not focused on graphics of other online chess games, which, I know I shouldn't complain, but it makes it harder for me to play. I will definitly buy it if I like the screenshots. Can't wait. -Mizu-Shoujo
Ubisoft HAS announced it on thier site and Gamestop is accepting deposits. I have one on dep already. The former speaks more about its actualy delivery though. From thier descriptions avaliable else where on the web, including Ubisoft, this version will be slightly different from the ones of the past, but I think they're taking a step in the right direction. Josh Waitzkin draws from (plugs) his book 'The Art of Learning' and makes use of the teaching from his book by the same name, to illustrate certain concepts of chess play. Josh Waitzskin, is/was one of this countries youngest (then) prodogies of the chess world and topic of 'Searching for Bobby Fisher -the Movie', . In his recent history, he has also taken official kudos from the world of martial arts by placing notable rank there as well. I predict, this will be one for the collection, for any serious chess collector or casual player.
As far as I can tell, nothing has been announced about this title other than its existence. I am hesitant to say I'll buy this until I see screenshots and a feature list, but my curiosity is peaked. Hopefully, this title will include online play, single cartridge multiplayer, and different game modes (atomic chess would be great, as would having quick chess puzzles like you see in the newspapers). I'd also love to see a training / tutorial mode that is as deep as what you get with Chessmaster 9000 on the PC/Mac. That would make this a must-have for me. If all it turns out to be is an ugly barebones chess title without the above, or a game with goofy kiddy features like character designers, I'll be very disappointed. They have a great opportunity here to create the ultimate chess title on the most successful platform of the current generation. Here's hoping UbiSoft comes through with a great title and not a lazy hackjob.
I played the game--the orgional version on MAC which was called chesmaster 2000 (i think) and I remember hearing "I am the chessmaster....your move." I don't particularly know how to play chess but.....I'm sure it's going to be awesome for those who are excellently knowledgeable in chess. WTG game designers.
I have owned the same game from same designers on PC (10 incarnations!)ORIGINAL Game boy,Gameboy advance, X Box and now I'm ready for the DS version. I'm only praying there's a WIFI capability SWEEEEETTTT.
It looks good
I have never played this game before, but it sounds like it will be a good game. I really like chess.
