Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Evercade Nexus and when does it release?

The Evercade Nexus is the next-generation handheld console in the Evercade ecosystem, designed to modernize the retro experience with enhanced hardware capabilities. It is scheduled for a worldwide release in October 2026,

What are the primary hardware upgrades over the Evercade EXP-R?

The Nexus introduces several significant improvements over previous models:

  • Bigger, Brighter Display: A 5.89-inch IPS screen (compared to the 4.3-inch screen on the EXP-R) with 500+ nits of brightness.

  • Dual Analogue Sticks: For the first time on an Evercade handheld, dual sticks are included to support 3D titles and precise control.

  • Modern Connectivity: Features built-in WiFi 6 and support for wireless Bluetooth headphones.

  • Better Audio: Equipped with front-facing dual stereo speakers for improved sound quality.

What is the "EverSync" local multiplayer feature?

EverSync is a new proprietary wireless feature exclusive to the Nexus that allows two Nexus consoles to link for local multiplayer without a WiFi network or internet connection. Only one physical game cartridge is required to share gameplay across both screens.

Which games come bundled with the console?

Every Evercade Nexus includes the Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack physical cartridge. This collection features Rare's 64-bit platforming classics Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, specifically optimized with widescreen support and improved camera controls for the Nexus hardware.

Is the Nexus compatible with my existing Evercade cartridges?

Yes. The Nexus features 100% backward compatibility with the entire library of over 80 Evercade cartridges and more than 700 officially licensed games. It also supports the new "Giga Cart" high-capacity format designed for larger 32-bit and 64-bit releases.

Does the Evercade Nexus support HDMI or TV output?

No. Unlike some earlier models, the Evercade Nexus does not have an HDMI port or streaming connection. It is designed strictly as a focused handheld experience; for television play, Blaze Entertainment recommends using the Evercade VS-R home console.

What is TATE mode and how do I use it?

TATE mode allows the console to rotate its display 90 degrees for authentic play of vertically oriented arcade games, such as classic shooters. The Nexus includes a dedicated button to toggle this mode and allows the use of an analogue stick as a virtual arcade stick in this orientation.

Does the console have internal storage or a microSD slot?

The Nexus includes 4GB of internal EMMC RAM, which is primarily used for firmware updates and "Game of the Month" downloadable indie titles. The system does not have an SD card slot for user-supplied files, as it remains a strictly cartridge-based platform.
