"One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just Orcs. There is an evil there that does not sleep. The great Eye is ever watchful." That was Boromir's advice at the Council of Elrond, and he definitely had a point. Sauron's realm is, without doubt, the deadliest place in Middle-earth. That's why we're so excited to invite you to play as Talion, a Ranger of Gondor who is murdered by Sauron's forces before being resurrected by Celebrimbor, one of the most powerful and important characters in the history of Middle-earth. Together you'll go behind enemy lines to make Mordor burn.
And that's where the fun begins, in Shadow of Mordor you will make enemies, and they will be exclusively yours. In Mordor every Orc is an ugly, mean, vicious, and a unique snowflake - and the only thing they hate more than each other is you. Our enemies are procedurally created through a whole set of features we call the Nemesis System, and they are organic to every player and every playthrough. There's not a day that goes by here on the team where we don't see something we've never seen before.
Today I watched an Orc I'd hunted deep into his stronghold turn to flee (in such a state of terror that he didn't notice the bonfire he staggered into). Being engulfed in flames didn't slow him down, and he kept racing away into the night. I thought I'd lost him, when suddenly until out of a back alley he got ambushed by another Captain who was the next in line for his job as Warchief (and saw his chance to move up), so he slammed his boss's burning face into the dirt until he stopped kicking and did my work for me.
Now I had a new rival.
We can't wait until we can start seeing and hearing new stories from players having battles and showdowns we didn't even imagine.
Pre-order Shadow of Mordor now to get the exclusive Captain of the Watch Skin, to play as Talion before the return of The Dark Lord and the Hidden Blade Rune to make your Stealth Kills even more ruthless.
