Language is complicated, as anybody who speaks English can tell you. The Aurebesh in the original trilogy doesn't actually spell anything out (except for some text on a readout in the DVD release of A New Hope, which was originally English and has now been retconned into Aurebesh). Stephen Crane developed an Aurebesh transliteration for West End Games back in 1994, and R2's name is spelled out in those corresponding characters on this bail.
