Thrustmaster Gpx Controller Officially Licensed For Xbox 360 & PC
Does Not Work
I'll start off with the positive. This controller looks and feels pretty good. Not too heavy, and not too light. It feels like it would be a good controller. But that's about it. I bought this controller to use on the PC, and I don't own a 360, so I don't know if it works on the 360. But on the PC, it is supposed to be plug and play with Windows 7, which is what I am running. I took it out of the box, plugged it in, and it didn't work. Drivers could not be found. I went to Thrustmaster's website, and looked to see what drivers they had. They had a link to the drivers for the official Microsoft XBOX 360 controller. I downloaded and installed those, and it still didn't work. I restarted my computer, and it still didn't work. I have emailed Thrustmaster support, and if they can't fix this, I'll be returning this controller, and then warning everyone to stay away from this company. If it does end up working, I'll come back and amend this review to include it, and what to do to fix it.
Better than others, that's for sure.
This controller feels nice in the hands, and is cheap in comparison to other controller price points, but better in quality as a nice bonus. I personally play xbox 360 for an average of about 2.5 hours a day mostly FPS games with some RPG as well just to give you a reference to what kind of use this controller gets. ***PROS***: Looks good - Feels nice - Feels solid - Cheap price point - lasting longer and better than double the price Razon controller. ***CONS***: Stick clicks are harder than stock xbox controller. Can make my thumb sore on weekend marathon Call of Duty sessions. - TRIGGERS have a lot of range which for racing it is nice, but for First Person Shooting games it can limit your shooting speed on semi auto weapons like the FAL. - D pad membrane under the button was not set correctly so I did need to open the controller to reset it. At first it was Very hard to push right and up on D pad. Even after resetting the membrane the D pad is not completely reliable. BAD for D pad using fighting games. *****TLDR***** Good cheap controller. Great for racing. OK for FPS. Bad for fighting game. Would recommend only if you Really can't just get a stock or more expensive.
Well, I needed a second controller while I was visiting family for the summer. It feels really nice in my hands and its not bad about the sides slipping. One problem was that the analog sticks slipped after about 20 min of play (My finger would slip off) Another being the fact that I believe the analog stick is "moving" on its own. Its almost unnoticeable but I'm sure over time it will get worse. The Dpad is actually worse than the normal xbox controllers, it being unresponsive and unsatifying when its pushed. The shoulder buttons are very very nice, and the triggers have more spring tension to them. I like that allot too. Really, if you're looking for a cheap controller that will last you a long time, just go with the regular xbox wired controller thats used. If you want something thats 3rd party and bran new, with a higher price tag, that may or may not work as well as the norm, get this. I'd say its worth the price and it works well, but next time I will most likely just buy a regular controller.
