Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mr. Video Game Himself The first time we gamers saw the toys to life category in gaming was with Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. The only problem with the Skylanders games is that you NEEDED all the figures to unlock 100% completion of those games. The same pretty much goes for Disney Infinity. However, Nintendo decided to make their own toys, and hoo boy do these things blow past the quality of Skylanders and Disney Infinity. Unlike the Skylanders and Disney Infinty figures, the amiibo actually have their own mind. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Mario can come to life, and you can train him to be the best fighter in the world. They learn from your techniques in battle, and level up to level 50. They continue to learn at level 50, but they will become harder and harder to beat the more you fight them. Mario in Super Smash Bros. has a well rounded move set, complete with a projectile, a reflecting attack, a nice recovery attack, and an attack the can help with pushing the enemy back. You can also customize these attacks, and feed him equipment that will strengthen him, speed him up, and protect him. By getting these stats at a balance, you can raise an unbeatable fighter. Besides Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, in Mario Kart 8, Mario unlocks a special Mario suit for your Mii characters (Miis are avatars on the Wii U). On top of this, Mario can give you weapons and rupees in Hyrule Warriors. Mario also works with a few 3DS compatible games. Now lets get to the design. Mario has an elegant fireball coming from his hand, which looks really cool. He also is standing on both his feet, so you don't have worry about him falling off his base like other amiibo the are in a running pose like Toon Link or Sonic. Mario is also a very common amiibo, so you might as well get him. Also, if you plan on only getting one amiibo, you might as well get Mario, given that he's compatible with most amiibo games, is the one of the most common amiibo, and is the mascot of Nintendo. Do yourself a favor and get yourself this easy to find amiibo. Also, fun fact: The plural for amiibo is amiibo. Not amiibos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty cool figurine! I have to say at first I wasn't too interested in amiibo, but seeing how cool they were as figurines in their Smash Bros. pose, I got the Mario one this past Christmas. I like the fireball detail that was added in his hand. As for the NFC use, I was a little caught off at how quickly it leveled up and learned my moves on Smash! As for other uses in games, obviously it's not much, but I did like getting some rupees for Hyrule Warriors and the Mario costume on Mario Kart 8. Hope to see some more uses in other games. Overall, I like my Mario amiibo!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mario's at LV. 50, but he always loses!? Physical Figure wise, Mario looks super awesome with the fireball he has attached to his hand, it's awesome and very dynamic at the same time. Of course you get the Mario themed racing suit for your mii in Mario Kart 8 but in Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS, he s a major disappointment. Of course like all amiibo he was terrible overall but when he reached level 50, he somehow found a new way to be terrible in Smash. Mario would use his Super Jump Punch late, and fail to get back on the stage. Mind you I never taught him that, that was all on the Mario amiibo. I also notice he doesn't shield as much and he constantly gets hit a lot because of it. The only time the Mario amiibo would triumph is if he was on a stage that you can't fall to your death. Sorry Nintendo, your mascot needs work, till then my Mario needs to learn a thing or two from the Peach amiibo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A must-have accessory for Nintendo Games These figures are phenomenal. For Smash Bros, I love using my Amiibo with my friends for added fun. And for only $12? Aside from it being an EXTREMELY good figure, the added gameplay elements it brings makes its price a bargain. I also love the suits they unlock in Mario Kart 8. They look beautiful. Everyone who owns a Wii-U and a compatible game NEEDS at least one of these great Amiibo figures (and this Mario one is one of my favorite ones I own).
