MadCatz Universal S-AV Cable Next Gen
Plug n go on any standard definition TV. I was trying to use a HDMI cable on my standard def tvs and it wasn't working... I plugged in a DVD player to be sure the TVs were all good so I knew it was the plug. I bought this *standard definition* cable for my 360. Only needed it for this one system currently...and it worked like a charm. Perfect! I wish the HDMI cables would work on any tv but thats not the case.
Not worth the money. Buy something else.
I just purchased this RF switch and am some what disappointed. When I hooked it up the picture quality dropped quite a bit. Every channel is filled with quite a bit of static and the sound quality is reduced a little as well.
I find myself having to unhook the RF switch and plug the cable directly back into the TV after I am done playing just so I can have a good picture again. Which is a real pain when you have a HUGE entertainment center in the way.
I bought this product for two reasons. One, the old cable that came with my PS2 is just about worn out. Two, it is just easier to be able to turn the system on and start playing, rather than having to switch to AV mode first. But because of the picture quality this RF switch produces, it is not really worth it.
The quality of the picture when I play any game using this RF switch is not as good as with the original cable. There are lines going through the picture and the sound quality is reduced quite a bit.
Truth be told I am tempted to take it back for a refund and see what else is available.
Bottom line, for anyone who takes gaming seriously at all, or for anyone like me who is less then a casual gamer.... Save your money.
Great Piece of Hardware
For when you have those older TVs that don't support Component yet support S-video or if you have a console that doesn't support Component (*coughcoughN64coughcough*), then this is the cable for you. For starters, it can be used on a multitude of consoles, so the usefulness of it is very nice. Plus, you have S-video, something that was not used very often in the N64 (yet it supported it), which is a higher resolution than the traditional "yellow" cable. However, my only issue is that this cable isn't as long as the standard cables that come with the consoles. I think that this set of cables is most useful on the Nintendo 64, PlayStation 2, GameCube, and the original Xbox consoles, and I recommend it for all of the consoles it supports if you TV supports S-video yet not component. Of course, even if your TV does not support S-video, then it still is a very strong cable. In the time I've gone through 2 N64 cables, I've gone through one and so far only one of these. So, aside from the length of cable and lack of support for the Wii, I find this to be a great adapter that I recommend for just about anyone who has these consoles.
MadCatz S-Video cable
I own an Xbox 360 Premium console, and use an RCA 27-inch standard-definition CRT-based television that has only composite and S-Video inputs. Using the standard Xbox 360 composite cable that came with the console, the display was mediocre — the graphics were of good quality, but they weren't very clear. Microsoft's first-party S-Video cable for the 360 costs more than twice as much as this cable does, so I figured I would give this cable a shot, and I am very happy with my purchase. The cable worked right away, first time plugging it in everything worked fine. After adjusting the sharpness and contrast settings on my TV, the display looks many times better than with the standard composite cable. I would highly recommend this cable if you're using a TV that has only composite and S-Video input; this cable will give you a much clearer display. I purchased this item in-store at a local Gamestop, and there were two different cables available for the same price, both Gamestop-brand cables. This one has both composite and S-Video, the other was S-Video only and had larger plastic around the connectors which looked like it might have interfered with the recessed connectors on the rear of my TV set. The plugs on this cable seem to be made of high-quality plastic and metal, and look like they will outlast my system itself. To top it all off, this cable also is compatible with the Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 (the PS2 and PS3 use the same connection type). In short, for those of us with standard-definition TVs, this is a great way to get the best picture out of you're existing set — a way to hold off on buying a high definition TV, and still get a better picture.
As long as you don't have an HD television
This product works pretty well as long as you don't use HD. I used this for my xbox360 and I didn't have any problems. My TV is not compatible for HD, Which probably makes a difference. The only problem is the sound. Other than that it's pretty good.
An ok product, but...
I bought this cable yesterday because I have several systems that I want to have hooked up simultaneously and thought this would be a good way to do so. I got it home and hooked up my Wii and PS2 with it and turned on the Wii, and I got picture but no sound. It turns out that if you utilize more than one hookup on the system end of the cable at the same time you won't get any sound out of it. So if you're looking for a product to hook up multiple systems at the same time you'll want to avoid this product. It works fine for one system though, so if you're looking for a good backup cable that'll work with any system of the current generation plus PS2 this is good for you.One thing with this as well is that the system-end plugs don't separate very far from each other. For my uses... mostly worthless. I'll keep this as an extra cable in case one of mine gets damaged.
Perfect S-AV CABLE
Based on the reviews given from people on this product, I thought this cable was going to be a joke. They were wrong- this thing did it's job perfectly. I can actually see a difference in video quality. And plus it is a good replacement for my old cable that broke. Good job on this, Mad Cats!
This Product is Garbage
These cables are garbage. They worked fine for about two weeks. After those two weeks, they started randomly cutting out, making gaming impossible. I had to constantly wrestle with them until they started working correctly. Eventually I had to wrestle with them so much they broke. Don't buy these. Spend the extra money on the real things, not this garbage.
Don't buy if capturing with dazzle.
I bought this for the PS3 to capture using pinnacle studio. The screen is black whenever you use it. When I tried it on the 360, the same thing happen. I tried the old 360 cables I had and it worked fine.
Another failed product from Madcatz
After 2 purchases (this being my third) of Madcatz products failing after a month. I have decided to never purchase from this company again. I bought this cable to replace my original ones because my previous ones were damaged. I decided to pick these up because they were cheaper than Sony's price on cables. Well, about a month after purchase, the cables were no longer displaying video. I did the ps3 video reset, it's definitely these cables. I DO NOT recommend these cables OR Madcatz as a company.
