Final Fantasy XI was originally released in 2001 to the Japanese market on the PS2 console; so considering its age, we can ignore its slightly dated graphics, and itsmaximum 30 frames per second. Being a veteran player of five years, playing multiple races and classes to better get a feel for each one before settling down into my present character, I can honestly say that as a first MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI is an excellent transition from console RPGs.
Firstly, there's the storyline element. I personally find storyline to be the most important part of an RPG, online or otherwise, as without one, we simply have a grinding game with no foreseeable end. Final Fantasy XI addresses this with gripping storylines, with each quest giving it's own backstory and usually sporting cutscenes with their own emotive music. There are thousands of quests, and in five years of playing, I've barely tapped the surface of them. There is truly never "nothing to do."

When Final Fantasy 11 was released I was excited about it.
Of course its been six years since playing it due to my busy schedule but i have put time into playing Final Fantasy 11 again started this year.
Square should have made a more open minded view and concept for Final Fantasy 11 but overall an addictive game to have if you are a Final Fantasy lover and addict like I am.

As an avid MMO'er, I still think FFXI has the best content for its buck amongst all it's online competitors. I've been playing FFXI since its Japanese beta and this game is truly amazing even after its several year lifespan. The controls are highly customizable through easy to learn macros. The player may use the keyboard alone in play or combine the use with the computer mouse.

| This is a really good game for everyone. I have been playing this game for about four years now and still have a ton of quests, missions, and such still to do. The storyline is intriguing and has cut scenes that are fun to watch. From the beginning mmorpg player to the veteran, this game has a lot to do when you are logged in. From exploring the world of Vana'Diel, to leveling your character w...[More] |
