MLB THE SHOW is a great game and with the new addition of the game mode, "Diamond Dynasty" I just can't put down the controller. If you are a fan of baseball or sports in general I highly recommend this game to you.
Rated 10 out of 10 by FableIIILuvR By far the best in the franchise
I have to admit that I was really hyped up for this with all the new features that was added to this. I did read some of the comments people were leaving about how this game is going to be the same and everything like it is every year. Sad to say that those people are always wrong when it comes to this game. Every year Sony always updates the game and everything about it. Yes MLB 11: The Show was kind of bad on the PS3 but good on the PS2 but since they didn't make MLB 12 for the PS2 this year, they went all out on it this year. The Diamond Dynasty is pretty interesting but what you are not warned is that you have pro players ready to be put on your team. The interface for the game is pretty good, the music sucks (like always), and the Show is pretty cool. They start you off in the AA and you have to work your way up. This by far blows Major League Baseball 2K12 out of the waters like it does every year. So this is a must buy if you are a baseball fan.

Let me start by saying I am a huge Baseball fan this years rendition of The Show is not good, and I am a huge The Show Fan! Start off by saying if it's not broken why fix it, the pitching interface is awful, I know you can set it back to the old ways but then what am I paying $59.99 for, also the new batting interface is just as goofy! I played a full exhibition game 6 errors in one game, also was beating the computer and all of a sudden about the fifth inning could no longer throw a strike and the A.I. starts making a miraculous comeback, same as the past couple of years the rubber band A.I. for all the bells and whistles the presentation supposedly went through I'm hearing the same commentary from the past three years? Online play I think the game is sharing the same server Twisted Metal is using Lag, Lag, Lag! Finally what gives Sony a 10GB install for the game to run smoothly, 10GB! Come on! I guess I will give MLB 2K12 a rent, but I have a feeling I'll just stick with The Show 11 and let both 2012 games ride the bench!
Rated 0 out of 10 by ScootFla Nothing new and noteworthy for RTTS players
The RTTS mode didn't receive any fixes or enhancements that make the game worth getting IF you're only into playing this game for the RTTS part. At least 2K made some updates with their My Player mode, but RTTS still suffers from there not being much reason to play once you get your ratings up high and have made it to the majors. There are no trophies for breaking MLB records and there certainly is nothing to entice you to want to play an entire MLB career in the game. Plus, when you get a homerun in the game, the players and coaches in the dugout still stand around like nothing happened as the camera shows you rounding 1st or 3rd. So the gaps in game realism still exist. I'm not a hater of the game, but they have to be making a killing charging 99 cents for player upgrades and they haven't used any of that money to improve the RTTS mode.

It is a good game, but there are things in this game that would make you angry. The graphics are always good and the gameplay is always good as it is tweak every year. There are problems that are head scratchers though. Fielding is a huge concern on this game. Players make more errors than any of the older games. A routine play would have the thrower make an errand throw or have the ball bounced before reaching to the base. Sometimes, when the guy catches the ball, he drops the ball. Other times, the opponents slowest guy will beat a throw out. The fielder will have a delayed action and not throw it at first. Isn't the fielder supposed to throw the ball out quick to get the guy out? Fielding is a huge downgrade from past games. Another thing it is bad about the game is the computer batting. They will foul off the relentlessly, which is not a bad thing. The bad thing is when they swing the bat and it is the complete opposite zone of the ball is at. The ball is down, they swing up and they will foul it off. The commentary is off. Once in a while the commentator would say that the ball is off the wall, but the ball is hit up the middle. This game is good, if you can stand those negatives.
Rated 3 out of 10 by rantabouthisgame Unimpressed is my best review
the following is still a HUGE disappointment: fielding (locked camera, you don't know when to dive even with the stupid "shadow," the point system for RTTS is still awful, RTTS is awful altogether (after a few days of playing, you will know what I mean), long load screens, I have to tweak settings far too much to compensate with the components for swinging. The following are good qualities: the game is more difficult which is nice since last year I would either pitch with a era below 2 all the time or bat with over 400 average, or after changing difficulties I couldn't pitch well at all or hit the ball... and the graphics are good. that's about it. Unimpressed.... It sucks that there is a monopoly on baseball games seeing as both game titles are pure garbage that costs $60.
Rated 0 out of 10 by Scoot Why the Hype?
I purchased my PS3 back in 2009 and after hearing all the "hype" picked up a used copy of MLB 2010 The Show. Frankly I was disappointed. The hitting was extremely difficult and unbalanced. The computer teams were constantly getting 2 out 0-2 basehits no matter where I threw the pitches or who i pitched with. You HAD to be on the plate or they wouldn't swing at anything. There was no craftiness about pitching whatsoever. And the ERRORS...wow my guys would commit 3 or 4 errors a game all at the Most opportune times for the opponent while the computer teams would maybe have 1 error a game. I admit the Graphics were awesome but as far as a simulation game....its not accurate. So why would I want to buy MLB 2012 The Show guys after my experience? WHY THE HYPE?
Rated 6 out of 10 by drummerboy144 So hard it takes the fun part away
This game is as usually the best baseball game out there graphics are awesome, sound as well but i have two reasons for my low score. first the "improvments" in gameplay were completley innecesary, new pitching interface feels like 2k so i went back to the meter, and the yellow location hitting is just dumb, i think the improvments in this game should focus on RTTS and franchise mode. the second thing is in this game is to hard to hit, and no its not the timing bucause i have had groundouts and flyouts with perfect timing. This game is good but sometimes is so hard is not even that fun, it sucks to be leading by 4 in the 8th and all of the sudden the A.I makes a comeback, and the you cant even hit a single in the 9th its just dissapointing
Rated 9 out of 10 by Slappy RTTS Needs tweaked.........
Don't get me wrong, this game looks and feels amazing. I just have a couple things to nit pick in RTTS because everything else is amazing. First I think that you need to start in Single A, and I also think that it needs more minor league ballparks because obviously double A and Triple A teams do not play in the same stadium and I have seen the same ones over and over again in different levels of the minors. I know its hard to get more realistic than this but no game would ever be perfect for todays technology. I also think that the crowds need to be more involved, sometimes no one even moves for the ball, but other than that I've got nothing this game is harder but the look and feel is amazing !!!
