| 12th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards Winner: Outstanding Achievement in Original Story and Role-Playing Game of the Year
Vault 101 – Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec® engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you’ve ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth. |

At first glance, I was skeptical of this game because I rarely buy a game that has a lot of people saying "you have to get this game because its Fallout 3". But when I picked it up and played it, I was hooked the first time I used the V.A.T.S. system and the controls were so easy to use. I don't want to spoil much of the storyline here; so all I will say is the storyline is not extremely exciting, but it makes you think and wonder which makes a huge hit for a post-nuclear era.
If you have Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, you will feel at home with this game, as they also created Fallout 3. The controls are almost identical to Oblivion with the addition of the V.A.T.S. and a few additional HUD items and the fact thats its in the near future. The V.A.T.S. allows you to pause the action and select a body part to hit as well as giving the percent chance to hit ad the limbs health. The fun factor is boosted with the addition of cinema scenes of each hit or miss, it never gets...[More]

| The game is pretty challenging and a good story but the ending..... I wanted to beat the game so I could roam around and do some side quests but then the credits started rolling. The ending I think sucked, it didn't make sense and what really annoyed me was that if you try to get you're radiation immune follower to punch in the code it doesnt let you. Also once you start the last quest you cant ...[More] |

| This is on of the most overrated games i've ever played. The graphics were not good at all. If you tried to aim not using the vats system, it was near impossible. The enemies looked dumb. The story itself is a good storyline, but the aiming was way to difficult. The arrows were terrible and it was very hard to know where you're going. I just don't see how this was game of the year. Oblivion was te...[More] |

| Well if you like to get a game, complete it, and never play it again then this is the game for you. Even before you finish the first run through you will most likely reach your maximum lvl. This kinda was a punch in the face to me. I am an avid RPG'er and getting to higher lvls is what I live for (making my character as awesome as possible). The graphics seem to be amazing until you actually get i...[More] |

GC 08: Fallout 3 Hands-On |

With a new, almost-complete build of Fallout 3 on show at Leipzig, it was only fair to take another trip to its post-apocalyptic Washington, DC.
