1. You may be using a router with a firewall that's blocking communications between the Wii and the internet; disabling the firewall should solve the problem. (you will need to contact the router manufacturer to resolve this issue.)

2. If you are connecting the Wii LAN Adapter directly to your modem it may not assign an IP address to a device. To resolve the issue please do the follow these steps:

1. Disconnect the network cable that's connected from the PC to the modem.
2. Connect the network cable to the cable modem and the Wii LAN Adapter.
3. Disconnect the power source to the modem for approximately 30 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power cable to the modem.

Performing the above steps will reset the modem and allow it to assign an IP address to a newly connected device.
