A Great First Impression to a New Soul Calibur Player
By: GameMaster149    Favorite Category: Role Playing    Date: Tuesday, Aug 05, 2008
As I observed the development of Soul Calibur IV, I couldn't help but be attracted to it. Though I've never found such a genre of fighting to be attractive, something about this game caught my eye. I was convinced to buy it by what I had initially read and the trailers that I watched, and I am absolutely grateful that I made such a decision. Soul Calibur IV is a FANTASTIC video game, and is very addictive as well as challenging in its own rights.

The perhaps first thing I noticed was the sleek graphics the game bolsters. Despite some loading screens, the characters, their armor, and even the menus look detailed. For being a game that can only display up to 720p in resolution, it looks like a quality almost beyond that. I was personally, very impressed by its appearance. In battle, the graphics retain their quality detail as you bash the environment during duels, and the music acts as a reasonable combination (though you'll not be paying attention to the music as much, since the ...[More]

This game is strongly recommended for all FIGHTER GAME FANS. The graphics are amazing, the characters look like realality. The challenge-It's a pretty good challenging game, and also this game was my first Soul Calibur game. And right away I get sucked into it. The storyline-It's alright I guess, it could of been alot better, but a storyline for a game like that is kinda hard to make. It takes lon...[More]

Good, but not the best

Let me start off by saying that Soul Calibur 4 is a great installment to the Soul Calibur series. However, a few flaws keeps it from living up to its predecessors.

The first thing wrong with this game is the story. You start by reading a short story to prelude into the game, but then you only fight five battles before the story is already over. When you beat the final boss and the credits ...[More]

Still fighting in stride

I recently bought t this game and all I have to have is that this is the best installment in the Soul Caliber series so far. The graphics of the game are beautiful to say the least. The characters are masterfully rendered to the slightest detail (including Star Wars character Yoda). The environment are also rendered in the same manner from the lighting to the animals that walk around in some aren...[More]
